Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 07:57 am:

This frozen mass of water is the Tannery Falls (also known as the Rudy M. Olson Memorial), near Munising. Tom Cook snapped the icy spectacle which looks like a climbers delight. Not for me though, since I'd be a little leery of the hanging icicles breaking off and sure wouldn't like the fall if that took place. Tom's second photo is that of the Munising Falls and sure is something to see with the frozen top of the falls and the icy mound underneath. They both seem to be just waiting for the remainder of the water flowing down to get to the magic freezing point and join the two as one chunk!

If you haven't been here for awhile, please take a moment to read about my nephew and the illness he and our family is facing.....thank you! Kevin's Story

Waterfalls are beautiful no matter what time of year, great pictures. Plan on going to see Munising falls next summer.

there's an owl sitting in the first picture looking at us. "are you seeing this beauty, pasty people?"

By Anita Marsy-Bosley (Anitamb) on Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 09:59 am:

I see the owl :)

Maija, I see the "owl" also, but my first impression was that of a person sitting down with one leg propped up and then "frozen" in time! At any rate, beautiful pictures.

Think the owl is waiting the rabbit (in the lower right) to come through?

There's a natural spring on side of US41 in Champion. During the summer you can see it going really high in the air. And in the winter it freezes at that height. It's really neat to see.

Maija--I see the owl too, but I am not terribly visual. The other day
before reading Mary Drew's post, I thought I was looking at a snake
(which really confused me, being as it was a winter shot). Once I
knew it was a partridge, I was able to see it immediately.

Happy Birthday, Grace! Today you would have been 53. Ten years later, I miss you still.
