Good morning,

A couple of recruiters are currently advertising computer programming positions in Marquette. One of them describes the client as a "high technology software development firm specializing in the healthcare sector".

I've been trying to figure out who the software firm is, but have had no luck with Internet searches. Does anyone know what the name of the company might be?

Thanks, Bill

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 10:02 am:

Joanne, go to the top of the page and click on Past-E-Mail, then click on Various Topics and Ancestors should be there.

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 10:46 am:

brrrrrrrrrrrr
I honestly don't miss that look at all.
Its 38 already down here in tropical Wisconsin.
Maybe they should plant palm trees along the lake. I'm not sure how low a temp they can survive in, but even in Phoenix it gets down into the high 30s, low 40s regularlary in the winter and they have palms everywhere.

I love the U.P. so much! If it was for sale i'd buy it.Then secure it's borders with Uncle Ted in charge of security at Da Bridge.Once you took the Oath to enter ( need ideas for that )if you don't have a gun he'd give you one.And the Bridge Cam on both the Bridge's would always be on.

By FJL (Langoman) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 11:33 am:

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 11:41 am:

I was just thinking about some of my adventures up there. I used to have a 1959 Ford Fairlaine convertible, beige and white, some of you guys may have seen me driving around. This car had been sideswipped by a snowplow :)
The gas tank was held up by chain, the headlights were bale wired to the fenders, there was no doorhandle on the driver side, had to push inside a hole to open the door, plenty of rust everywhere. I used to carry a couple of gallons of water in the trunk because of a radiator leak that the stopleak wouldn't stop...remember stopping by the bay in Eagle Harbor and filling it up with nice cold Lake Superior water.
Oh, the gas gauge didn't work either. I ran out a few times...had to hitch-hike to work...I worked at the Houghton County Road Commission for a summer...played flagman a bit, pitched gravel, painted all the guardrail posts between Chassell and Dollar Bay...US41 and M26...there was another guy that helped with that..can't remember his name now...are you here?
Also cut all that grass along the county roads around the guardrails mainly by hand with scythes and sickles....
wow...what a blast :) had a good tan.

By Tom Karjala (Tom) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 12:51 pm:

How far from Cookville? Have a friend in Hancock who wants to relocate to that area of TN.
And a friend who lives near there. Nice scenery.
Good roads to the ridges where people live but they are really curvy. Must be careful.

By Sandra H. (Wasayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 01:03 pm:

Hi Everyone,
I just discovered pasty.com. I was born and raised in Ontonagon and went to Michigan Tech for a while. These days I live in Texas but visit my parents in Ontonagon once or twice a year. My 82 year old father still loves to hike so we go on good hikes in the porkies, along Lake Superior, to hidden waterfalls, and such. The U.P. has got to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful places left on this earth (God's Country).

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 02:07 pm:

Welcome Sandra! We got to Ontonagon every July and sometimes a quick trip in the winter. It's a beautiful place!

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 02:13 pm:

Oh, oh, spelling error, where's Margaret?

By Sandra H. (Wasayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 03:00 pm:

Joanie, Did you go to Ontonagon to see scenery or relatives? As a kid growing up there, I did not appreciate the beauty of it all. I grew up on twenty acres with a mile of woods behind it. My childhood memories consist of hiking, fishing, skiing, climbing trees, and swimming in creeks. My thinking spot was under a large red pine on a hill that overlooked a creek. I just took it all for granted. It was not until I moved away that I realized what a lucky child I had been.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 04:17 pm:

Heikki Lunta and the snow dance song was brought up awhile back. That name is Hank Snow in english. That is not his real name either. Is his real idenity still a secert? I have had many a cold beer with him at Sis's Club in $Bay and Partnen's Bar shooting pool.I don't belive his real name is on the 45 record,is it? He told me not to tell he was a.k.a. Heikki Lunta. He has a real finish last name and shares his first with me.I can pronunce his last name,to spell it no.I'am just a wondering if he is alive and well. Many of the guys that shared them times are no longer with us,such as Don Rose and Wild Bill O.

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 04:25 pm:

David Riutta might be the name you looking for.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 04:27 pm:

Sandra, we go to Ontonagon every year for a good breath of fresh air, wide open spaces, the beauty of the town and last but not least "Old Mother Superior. We always rent a cabin from Don and Kathy Scott at Scott's Superior Inn and Resort. They are two of the sweetest people you could ever meet. We always go to Roxie's for the best hamburgers in the world and Syls for the yummiest breakfasts! Pat's IGA is the only place that we have ever found that has Grade AA eggs. Check around, the eggs are always Grade A. We are planning, hopefully to retire there in less than 2 1/2 years! I envy you, bet you have some cherished memories!

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 04:36 pm:

David, here's the song and hope it brings snow to the UP:
I REMEMBER BACK IN ë58 WHEN I WAS JUST A LAD
I WENT UP TO THE COPPER COUNTRY HUNTING WITH MY DAD
THE GROUND WAS BARE AND FROZEN SO WE COULDNíT TRACK NO DEER
SO MY OLD MAN GOT HIS KNAPSACK AND HE FILLED IT UP WITH BEER
HE SAID WE GOTTA TAKE A HIKE WAY OUT IN THE WOODS
THEREíS THIS GUY NAMED HEIKKI LUNTA HEíS CRAZY BUT HEíS GOOD
WEíLL LET HIM DRINK A COUPLE BEERS AND WHEN HE STARTS TO GLOW
HEíLL DO THE HEIKKI LUNTA DANCE AND THEN JUST WATCH IT SNOW

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 04:38 pm:

David, isn't his last name Riutta?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 04:39 pm:

Grace, I knew him too.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 04:56 pm:

Yes Grace,& Deb I knew his name but was afraid to spill the beans on him,Dave Riutta, because he was being hunted the year his song came out for making the snow come down to much, the Snowmobile club had races coming up and no snow.It didn't stop until May.Anybody seen him around or is he still hiding out?
Grace: are you a relative of mine? Chet was my uncle married to my dad's sister.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 05:00 pm:

David, I used to hang out with his wife and kids. Went to the bar a couple of times when his band played. They were pretty good. Haven't really heard from her in a while and he and Linda are divorced now. I think I heard that she had cancer but never heard what came of that.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 05:13 pm:

They say we are only 6 people away from knowing everyone in this country eh.Been in the bar's many a time to hear him play.Maybe even when you was there. Sorry to hear that about Linda.

By Danbury (Danbury) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 05:33 pm:

Even better, David H. - that six people connection supposedly works globally, depending on how "connected" is defined.
In the US, maybe it's down to three or four.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 05:39 pm:

It's a strange world we live in. We probably have been in the same bars alright. Wish I'd have known, but how could we? Davesou is my cousin, too. So, we're connected that way too. What a small world.

Yeah, I have no idea how Linda is doing but if anybody out there does know, we'd really appreciate hearing. Linda's a very sweet lady.

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 05:40 pm:

David H.- my husband Rob is the oldest son of Bob
& Shirley Wetton. Speaking of Chet, a fine man,
his passing 1 yr ago Jan 4. Boy, here we meet on Pasty Cam! Glad to meet you, even if it is on the computer.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 06:36 pm:

Why sure Grace i should have known that,i belive i met you, say howdy to Rob.
You betcha Danbury you are right.
For any one who maybe interested yesterday's What's Up page is still growing. I thought for awhile i was going to have to Re-regester and pretend to be a new-commer who just found this site.Good stuff agian here today eh? Good to push the envelope around some now and then.
Deb S. if we was in the bar at the same time once i wouldn't have been the type to hit on you.I'd of been the one with all the women around me.Don't forget Finns are known to tell tall tails, and you can always tell a Finn, you just can't tell um much.

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 07:11 pm:

sorry Deb...minneeSOta took it on the chin in Madison....both teams looked a little off imo.
BIG game Tuesday with Ohio St.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 07:18 pm:

Not a Gophers fan. Who names their team the Golden Gophers? Sounds like a bunch of sissies! Hated to see the Wolverines lose, but that's what happens when your coach isn't willing to adjust to the other team's game plan.

Who ya going for in the big one? Watching Indy beat up on KC right now. Was kind of pulling for the Chiefs but, oh well. As long as Tom Brady and the Patriots win, that's all I really care about. Ty Law had a great game today. Another great ex-Wolverine.

By Happy to be in the U.P. (Lahelo) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 08:28 pm:

Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) You can never trist any of those weather forecasts, I have learned from experience. Living in the Upper Peninsula and just Michigan in general. Just wait 5 minutes and the weather can change in a heartbeat! People in Michigan know that one very well.

By Happy to be in the U.P. (Lahelo) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 08:33 pm:

Sandra H. (Wasayooper) I live just outside of Ontonagon. I love it here. Wouldn't live anywhere else in the United States or anywhere in the world for that matter!

By Happy to be in the U.P. (Lahelo) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 08:39 pm:

oops Joanie TRUST I misspelled the word !! ha ha

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 - 08:44 pm:

David, the husband would like to know how badly they (Gophers) got beat today.
