60 degrees at my home yesterday. Annual snowmobile part of friend's Christmas gathering today put on major hold. Had all that snow on Mon & Tues. disappeared. Maybe I'll rake instead!

The weather channel said you are going to get some bad weather. It's a little cool here, but no snow for the Holidays......poor us. Have fun on those snowmobiles.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MARQUETTE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING. THIS WARNING HAS REPLACED THE SNOW ADVISORY. SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE INTO MONDAY. A NORTH WIND OF 20 TO 30 MPH THIS AFTERNOON WILL INCREASE TO 25 TO 40 MPH TONIGHT INTO MONDAY AND WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF

Ore boat about to drop anchor in Bete Grise. Too hazy to make her name yet. Bet she'll be here for at least 24 hours.

Both ANDERSON and TRAGURTHA were plying Superior yesterday.

By Boat nerd on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 01:12 pm:

Saw the CANADIAN TRANSPORT's anchor splash at 12:55, and monitored their transmition stating that they were in "bith griss bay".

By maijaMI on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 01:54 pm:

Boat nerd: I love your posts!

By Lena, MN on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 02:35 pm:

The wind in Minnesota is blowing all my Christmas decorations down and around the yard. I thought some crazy person had taken our glass table and chairs. Found them down the hill.

By The Urban Escapees, MI on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 02:40 pm:

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!! Just got back from an hour walk in it. Don't have to dream about a white Christmas anymore. From some snow junkies.

By Fran,Ga on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 03:44 pm:

Oh Yay!!! The snow has arrived. Now I can at east look at the bridge cam every day and feel Christmasy!!! Today I made 4 gallons of Caramel Corn. Wish we could have a Caramel Corn Party!

By Boat nerd on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 04:35 pm:

Another oreboat arriving at Bete Grise joining the CANADIAN TRANSPORT.

Suspect that it may be the CHARLES M. BIGLEY, as the TRANSPORT's Captain was asking the Marquette Coast Guard to let the BIGLEY know that there was plenty of anchorage here.

By Rachel from Little Betsy on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 08:51 pm:

I'm wondering when someone's going to get a webcam going at Bete Gris! It would be so cool to see the big boats taking refuge. Ah well, might have to wait and do it myself after I win the lottery.

By B in GB on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 09:10 pm:

Charlie how moch for a Bete Grise camera..?

By B in GB on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 09:12 pm:

Is there still a camera in the lighthouse up there some where?

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 11:14 pm:

My snowplowing neighbor came in this afternoon for the first time this winter. I had shoveled a 2 foot high snowbank away to get the car off the road after we got home from church. Wind is really blowing tonight here in Cornell. Light snow falling, temp. is 34°. Just before dark it was 26° so I dumped the water (ice covered) from the birdbath. Suppose it'll snow more since it has warmed up. Heavy, wet, slippery snow. Doncha just love it? (The mower deck is still on the Cub Cadet.) :o(

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 11:48 pm:

We used to maintain the webcam at the Mendota Lighthouse, along with a weather station which showed the current conditions. Then about four years ago the owner of the lighthouse abruptly discontinued the operation and stopped updating his website.

We would love to get a webcam going again looking out over Bete Gris. The live stream would be much easier now, as we are serving Pasty.NET's wireless broadband right down to the beach (and beyond).

Speaking of live webcams, John Schneiderhan and I were up in the steeple of St. Anne's church in Calumet this afternoon, making preparations for a new webcam soon to be hosted by Main Street Calumet. Stay tuned!
