Another winter, another Christmas day, bringing us near to the end of another year. Both Tina Hyrkas and Paul Talvensaari over in our Guest Gallery had the same idea in getting a closeup of the frost hanging onto the pine trees, on this sub-zero morning. Our way to wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas, from all of us here at Pasty Central.

By Ms Katie in Rockport Tx. on Saturday, December 25, 2004 - 10:18 am:

I just came in from taking photos of our snow!!!Here in south Texas. This is on the Gulf coast! I know yoopers wouldn't be impressed with 3-4" of snow. But it's been since 1890's since last snow even near this. Will be interesting how locals are handling it. Oh well it'll be gone this afternoon. Merry Christmas to the wonderful crew that makes Pasty.com the great place that it is. And to the neat people I've met thru it. I feel like I know you all. God bless all of you in 2005.

By Down State Dave on Saturday, December 25, 2004 - 10:30 am:

John,mi -- are you revealing your age? I didn't know anyone had a "front room" anymore. I remember opening presents on Christmas morning in the "front room" around a blazing fire and having company over later sitting more formally in the "parlor". Now everyone seems to have a "living room" or a "family room" or a "great room". ;>)

You bring back fond memories of Christmas' past with your comment. Think I'll go sit in the "front room" and wait for the grand kids to show up.

"Over the river and thru the woods,
In our SUV we'll go!"

By Dale Chisholm, Mo on Saturday, December 25, 2004 - 01:56 pm:

It's been plenty cold enough here in St Louis (Mo - not Mi) this last week but not a trace of snow! What a bleak, dreary, dreadful season - I envy your good fortune to live in the Copper Country.

On a sadder note: My Christmas mail brought word that Pastor Hilbert Zwyhuizen, who lived in Houghton approx 1950 - 1975 and pastored the University Baptist Church (now called Evangel Baptist, on College Ave) passed on last spring.

Merry Christmas to all from Washington, the Evergreen
State!
Could that possibly be Santa's sleigh flying across the
bridge- so fast it's a blur- in the photo?

By The Urban Escapees,MI on Saturday, December 25, 2004 - 08:13 pm:

Merry Christmas everyone. Cool pic of the bridge that Darrell posted. Last night was magically beautiful, with the almost full moon out and clear starry skies. I took an evening walk in the -11 temp, almost as bright as daylight. Beautiful! Tonight is also bright, but some thin clouds out. John/Houghtons beer freezes on his back porch - our dogs water stays liquid for only a very short while inside the back porch! Know whatcha mean. Lovin' the UP winter! Happy New Year to all.

By Elvira on Saturday, December 25, 2004 - 11:39 pm:

Oh Dave, you are a real piece of work. One minute you have me shoveling snow and the next you are sending me the Christmas Train with all my friends on it. (But you missed the road runner, my favorite.) And also, the presents are missing. Obviously, you did not put enough cars on that train. I like lots. :) A Special Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, and all the others who at times keep me in stitches. Your pictures are awesome. Thanks to those who are running this site for all to enjoy. ELVIRA

By Candy, CA on Sunday, December 26, 2004 - 11:46 am:

Merry Christmas a few hours late from foggy Northern California. After a few nights of heavy frost (almost snow, but not enough to shovel!), we're in for rain.

We enjoyed our pasties on Christmas eve (thanks to the hardworking elves at Still Waters) and each other all day on Christmas. Santa brought too many new computer toys for the guys for me to have any computer time myself, but I sure appreciate reading all you had to say this a.m. (hugs to you, Phyllis and Dave).

Charlie and company, your work on pasty.com lets me live away from home but still be there -- like a kite, I can fly free as long as my heart is tethered safely by loving hands. Thank you all for all your hard work and God bless you and those loving hands in the year to come!
