For those that are/were interested:

Price of regular unleaded gasoline went up at all of the stations in Calumet yesterday. It is now $2.14-9/10 a gallon.

By finlander, painesdale on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 - 10:24 am:

It went down in Houghton yesterday, to 2.099.

R Somero... thanks! Thought maybe it was the Arco on Monterey & Blossom Hill. Close!

By Candy, CA on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 - 02:01 pm:

We're feeling the same pinch in the Sacto area, San Jose folks -- $2.33 in Lincoln, $2.49 in Marysville. Premium is $2.58! Yikes! I'm sure glad I get to work at home!

By Audrey, San Jose, CA on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 - 02:06 pm:

Candy, I was wondering where in CA you were from. You are lucky to be working from home!

By Dave Faller, Bakersfield, CA on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 - 03:51 pm:

I live in the largest oil producing county in California, Kern County. This morning I filled up with regular @ $2.43/gallon. We have several refineries in Bakersfield so shipping is not an issue like in the UP. Shell is attempting to close down its' refinery which produces 6% of all diesel and 3% of gas in California. Maybe I need to move back to Lake Linden where prices are cheaper.

By DJ, Michigan on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 - 04:32 pm:

None of us likes paying any more than we have to for gasoline but when adjusted for inflation the price is not very different from the "good old days" of the early 1950's. These days we have cars which can get better mileage, but many still choose to buy gas guzzlers. Seems like this gas issue has more to do with US. I see more people than ever racing away from intersections towards upcoming red lights, slamming on the brakes, and wasting quite a bit of gas in the process. I always consider the use of my brakes as a measure of wasted fuel. The harder I slam on them, the more gas I waste.

Marine City MI, last night I paid $2.069 for BP, down the road further, Marathon $2.019. However at the BP they had 2 liter Coca Cola at $1.00 each so I bought 2 and thus saved at least 60 cents!

By John J.J.H.S. on Thursday, October 21, 2004 - 12:05 am:

complaining will do you no good. You are still going to have to pay the high prices no matter what.

By Donna on Thursday, October 21, 2004 - 05:40 am:

By KS, California on Thursday, October 21, 2004 - 10:25 am:

Price for regular gas on 10/19/04 near San Francisco,
CA at Costco
$2.36!!!!!!

By DB on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 - 06:06 pm:

WOULD YOU PREFER FIVE $ PER GALLON FOR GAS OR RATIONING? RATIONING WOULD CREATE A LOT OF BEAURACRATIC JOBS BUT THE PRICE MAY ACCOMPLISH THE SAME THING. DISCUSSION? AM I A PESSAMIST OR A REALIST? RATIONING WOULD NOT CREATE INFLATION.
