Of course, Axel. There's good reason the UP looks like Wisconsin. It should be part of Cheeseland rather than Troll Land. Look at a map !

Good Morning Copper Country
Do I have a pasty recipe for you!
We did it. Cook came up with a pasty to die for. She carmelized onions, added portebello mushrooms, broccoli and asparagus, mixed it with cubed potatoes, shredded carrots and rutabagas. She put that mixture in a crust recipe that Joey sent and Taaaaa Daaaaa an Elvira Pasty. Served with Jalapeno Salsa, or hot sauce or Mango pineapple salsa, or maybe your taste goes toward habaneros or the flavor of chipothes or anything
hot. Oh chi-wa-wa, it gives you a much bolder taste you are sure to enjoy. Now, who said I couldn't do it! What is a Kowsit Lats!
Thank you Dave of Laurium and Joey.

Glad that you "created" something you like. Hope that you don't take offense when a true pasty lover replies, "No thanks, I'll pass."

Not to start up another controversy, but I'm wondering if you do this just to be controversial. I mean calling what you have a pasty. You ought to think up your own name and if it's that good, market it? If you take an apple pie, and change the ingredients except for the crust, would you still have an apple pie?

Ah, nevermind, we've been through this I think.

Good luck with your experimenting.

Did anyone watch the Vice-Presidential debate the other night? Remember when Cheney told listeners to login to Factcheck.com! Well I tried it and factcheck.com is a website that goes into great detail as to why we should NOT reelect President Bush... What a strange thing for Cheney to say... In this case though I must admit that I agree with him...

By cj on Thursday, October 7, 2004 - 12:35 pm:

If you look to the left on the factcheck.com page there is a disclaimer. The actual website is factcheck.org.

By GoogleGuy on Thursday, October 7, 2004 - 12:36 pm:

Cheney meant to say "factcheck.org". The factcheck.com domain is owned by someone who then redirected all the traffic to the Soros website. The Soros people were fair enough to put a link to factcheck.org at the top of their page with an explanation of why the traffic went to their site.

Hey Dave
People don`t come to this site for political
opinions. Take your comments to a differant site

By yooperwannabe on Thursday, October 7, 2004 - 01:28 pm:

Please...Please...don't wreck this site by posting your presidential opinions!

Even in Cornwall they have {sweet} apple Pasties ETC.to go along with what we consider the "only" {savory} pasties including VEGGIE! it is the Paste like crust that makes it a pastie.

By RCM on Thursday, October 7, 2004 - 03:43 pm:

cookie -

I have to believe the "original" Cornish pasty is pretty much like what we have always had in the copper country. I wouldn't be surprised if some modern variations made their way there, like vegetarian. But these are not "original" pasties. And a crust with apples inside is an apple pie, not a pasty!

If it is the paste like crust that makes it a pasty as you said, how do you explain pies, torts and various other pastries that have a similar crust?

Nope, a pasty is a pasty, made as a complete meal that the Cornish miners' wives made for them. That's what I want to believe. If y'all want to change the ingredients and take out the meat, then you have something else.

(:),

You said the G word!! Shame on you!

By Had em b 4 on Thursday, October 7, 2004 - 08:29 pm:

In Britian the crust sometimes has apples or prunes on one side and meat and veggies on the other side..in the same Pasty.yup, This goes back to Cornwall and its tin mines. They also serve salmon pasties along the sea ports.

By Hanzie on Thursday, October 7, 2004 - 08:46 pm:

A bit on the German version of pasties, and meat tart or meat pie.

Steve, WI-

Sorry, but I tried everything. I am not sure why it isn't posting. I decreased the size, and renamed the file thinking that might work. I never ran into a problem like this before. I do have a question, why is there a date at the bottom of the photo? This may be causing the problem??

By Nikki on Friday, October 8, 2004 - 12:08 am:

Steve,

What I meant about the date was that it isn't on the photo itself, but under it. None of my photos that were open with yours in my photo program had anything like that.
