Great pictures! We have quite a bit of color around here (northwestern Ohio) as well. It was a glorious weekend to enjoy them. The colors just glow against the clear blue skies. Enjoy them while we can.

Back to work from a glorious, Keweenaw weekend! Went up Thursday and thought the colors were no where near peak, but as the four-day weekend progressed, they were peak in many spots. Best moments: late afternoon lunch at Lac LaBelle, driving to and around the Porkies, Silver River Falls and stopping at the fishing site on the Silver River at Townline and Skanee Roads, and Prickett Lake. Missed a great photo op at Lac LaBelle 'cuz I figured I could wait until our meal was done. But then the reflections on the water were gone! The fishing site colors were amazing, reflecting on the river. The lake surface looked like land because of the vivid fall colors reflecting on it. I'll have pictures in my gallery in a day or two, if all goes well.
Power House Falls was beautiful at dusk, too. Have a great day!

Oh, yes! And the pounding waves on our shore in Aura at night! All that was missing was moonlight!

Just back from a beautiful long weekend in the UP. The Lord blessed us with fantastic weather to journey back home and lay to rest our Molly. She was also a Yooper (a beagle from Tasson's in Ishpeming) and we felt it only fitting to bring her back home and bury her along side her sister Ellee. Both dogs loved the UP as much as we do. We are thankful for all her loving years and blessed to have shared such wonderful times together. Coming back to our house in the big city never felt lonelier than it did yesterday.

I was traveling from 'troll' land yesterday and the colors across the UP were fantastic. I must be fair though, the colors in the northern areas of the LP were also very nice. I managed to catch the the light reflecting off a pond through the trees outside of L'anse and decided to stop, this is a sample of the pictures I was rewarded to....enjoy!!

Dave... That is simply awesome. All these Fall pix are. Ours in GA have barely even started to change!

Such beautiful pictures today, as usual. I can almost hear the leaves skittering across the road when a car passes by. in the first picture. Dave from Laurium your photo is breath taking. Praise to the Lord for this beautiful land we live in!

I have been re-united with an old, dear friend I haven't seen for 25 years, who I had, sadly, lost touch with because I moved overseas.I have been looking for he and his family for years...we'd both moved out of the U.P. One of his photos was shown here the other day....when I saw his name I almost had a heart attack! I asked Toivo if he would please forward my email to him, but I also found my friend's email address in his photo gallery. Anyway, we are emailing each other, are completely delighted to be in contact again and we owe it all to pasty.net. Our love of the U.P. is what binds us together. Thank you one and all at Pasty.net., and special thanks for showing pictures of the autumn colors. They're breath taking!

Just back from the C.C. Color great, weather the same. Cliff drive and '41' gorgeous... Rock picking at the C. water-works peaceful. Lunch at the "Harbor Haus," very good. Nice room at the "Arcadian Motel". Still miss the "crusty bread"!!!

I would be interested to hear which version is preferred for the video clips we are starting to make available (Real Player or Windows Media)... not sure how the Mac people play streaming video (Quicktime?)

Good morning everyone!
I'm back in my office in Vegas today after a fantastic (but short) trip to the Keweenaw. I was able to sit by the lake and listen to the waves washing ashore, we drove around and enjoyed the beautiful colors, and I even enjoyed one cloudy, rainy day.
I'm already looking forward to my next trip up north, though I don't know when it will be.

Was in the UP this weekend. Drove up highway 55 through Wisconsin. No wife, no kids. Just me, unbeliveable color and the Wolf River next to me. Listening to the Badgers whip up on Ohio State made it even better. Got to Iron River in time to have pizza at the Riverside Inn. Best place to get a pizza in Iron River. Any other place you order a pizza, they go over to the freezer to get one out. The Riverside has been there since 1946. I think the woman who waited on me was there when the doors first open.

Skylar - 906-482-1150 is the county's clerks office for Houghton County! With purchasing a plat book for Houghton County, you also receive it for Keweenaw County too! TWO FOR ONE!

But they're likely not there today (it's a holiday...)

Plat book is a map of property and who owns them, so if you own a house in calumet it will show the property and list your name as the owner.

I like Windows Media Player... Not to mention everyone has it if they use Windows... FREE! Real Player has to be bought, unless you use the free-bee, which isn't that good, in my humble opinion.

Chevysac, I can feel your sadness, I have been there for the dogs that I have had also. Molly will be very happy that you returned to bury her by her sister Ellee! You did the most generous thing that you could after all the companionship and happiness that she brought to you and all she did in return was want your love back. She will ever eternally grateful to you and your family.

I see in the weekend paper that the government has closed down the E.L.F. program in the UP.That was the program that allowed contact with the atomic submarines I believe. I seem to remember a big hulabaloo when it was first planned 20 or some years ago. Did you get your lures washed Troll from Eagle Harbor?

Here in CA. you need to be a multi- millionaire just to own a postage stamp size lot. Really sad!
Back in Mich. I had a brand new home on one acre for next to nothing compared to out here.

Yeah, the price of real estate out here is pretty insane (although, Kevin, I'm assuming it's still more affordable in the central valley then the bay area). I bought my home back in 1987, and feel very fortunate to be able to own a home in this area and not go broke, and I'm certainly far, far away from millionaire status.

It's cheaper here in the central valley then the bay area, but still out of sight and getting worse. Back 4 years ago I was having a home built here in Lodi, put a cap Of $200,000 on it. Which was sticker shock for what I was getting. The house was not completed yet, the bank did the appraisel for the loan, and they appraised it at $230,000. So before it was completed or I had moved in I was up $30,000. That house is now worth + $500,000.

Am I bragging? No! Just in aw!

I have both Windows media and Realtime aand both work very well. Realtime allows you to go full screen with the video, albeit the picture gets pretty blury.

Great photos today! Charlie I too vote to keep both options but prefer Windows Media Player. Also so glad to see Buddy as though he does not replace the one you lost, he can fill that painful, empty place the other dog left.

I remember when the construction on the ELF project started. Used to hunt with some friends in Hardwood at the time. The Feds came right through a beautifully wooded 40 acres, right smack through the middle of it, with power lines for this project. Was one of those deals where my friend was told, "We're coming through with it, like it or not. Here's what we'll pay you, take it or leave it." What a waste that was of a beautiful piece of land.

Yah, land is precious. I couldn't believe when I drove through the Kettle Moraine forest in here wisconsin the other day and discovered logging. My husband even was shocked. We never thought we'd see that here.

A part of aviation history was lost Saturday night with a fire at Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run Airport. Three planes a B25, B17 and a C47 were saved by the crew of the B25 that had just returned from an air show and discovered the museum on the second floor of the hanger to be on fire. The hanger burnt to the ground. Members and crews have made a commitment to build a new, larger and fire proof hanger and solicit artifacts from W.W. I and II to replace the articles lost in the fire. Brave crew to rescue the planes!

I've been trying to get my now husband up there for the last 3 years since he's big on outdoors and would fall in love with it just like me, but it didn't work out again this year now that we're married and can GO ANYWHERE WE WANT!!!! (can you tell we're newlyweds?)I'd like to fine more fall pics to send him and show him what he's missing so that next year, there are no excuses. We love the fall and I got hooked on the Keweenaw Penn. from MTU alumni. Though "he's" out of the picture, I can still share the beauty with my husband. Ohhhhhhhhhh! I remember Ethel.....she's the one that kept asking for lessons on how to play the stock market. Has she spent all your money yet. I hope they were good investments. I told her that if she follows my advise she could buy a five postage stamp size lot and even put a house on it. Seems to me that I also know about metaphors. But in my opinion, they certainly were not considered weapons.

Oh, by the way, the pictures by Charly and Dave of Laurium are absolutely beautiful. Wish I could come home sometime. There is not one ripple in that water. I bet the forest sounds were quiet, with the exception of birds twittering. Ahhhhh, the sound of quiet, and the smell of fresh air.

ya know, it's true, the grass isn't always greener on the "other side"! Big shout out to L'Anse. I sure miss it there. green bay just isn't as pretty.

I think Autumn is my favourite time of year, especially in Michigan and Canada. The 3 Autumn pictures, the lighthouse, and Mackinac Bridge photos are especially nice.
