This morning's flashback is a PastyVision look at the Hancock waterfront. You can see some townhouses under construction -- there are now five of those units stretching to the east. That scene looks white, white, white this morning, with another 6-12 inches predicted over the next 24 hours.

First PostMorning!

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 06:52 am:

Dean, I've not been to Hancock, is that a wall or just a steep hill?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 06:59 am:

Morning! That's a very cool shot of Hancock!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 07:00 am:

Pretty sure it's just a hill, Margaret. I don't think there's a wall there.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 07:02 am:

Margaret--There are steep hills on both sides of the bridge.
I hope you can get UP in person to check them out.

I'm excited because my dad sent me an e-mail on his own (a first
for him). He also said that he had found his way onto PastyCam.
Let's hope he finds it again today!

By Randall Ollila (Rwolli) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 07:09 am:

Morning All.
I see it is officially winter in the UP, with the Portage Bridge Cam finally updating and the bridge has been lowered to its lowest position. Enjoy the day everyone!!

Good Morning all,
Hope everyone is having a nice morning.
Joanie, glad you liked my animation, I have incredimail and its the best way to send e-mails. You can put animations on and different stationary paper. I actually got the birdies off of a Incredimail design sight and put in my collection. Check it out everyone, its free!!! www.incredimail.com

Sure hate seeing those town houses going up! The asking price in my MLS book is $200,000.00. There goes "The Best Kept Secret!"

Hello and welcome Dad of Kosk!

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 09:23 am:

Like backhomedon yesterday, I also wonder what will become of Still Waters and the beautiful garden. Does anyone know of any plans?

By Mike (Ccexplorer) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 09:27 am:

Its the steep hill on which Hancock sits that make it so visually interesting. If you look hard enough you can find some great scenic views from within the city itself, like this panoramic I took from behind the middle school a few days ago. If you do some exploring on some of the back streets and alleys in Hanock you discover some very interesting finds.

Mary Drew; Please put on your thinking cap.My Grandmother Lillian, her sister was Ida,and btother August. What kin would Ida be to your Grandchildren? Your newest pictured yesterday sure is a handsome little guy.My 10th. Grandaughter was 2 week's yesterday.
Enjoy the snow up der you'all.Perfect weather here in the Knoxville area today.I realy enjoy looking at the snow photo's posted on here.

Mary says: Actually, Ida and Lillian were my husband's Great Aunts, so that would have made them our Grandchildren's Great, Great, Great Aunts then? August was my husband's Grandfather, so he would have been our Grandchildren's Great, Great Grandpa. I'm sure there are other terms for those relations, but I don't know them!

Jarmo, Happy Independence Day! I just love your accent!

By eugenia r. thompson (Ert) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 03:12 pm:

Look again, Randall and all -- BridgeCam is updated but is not updating. It's dated late yesterday -- at least it's closer to current.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 05:02 pm:

Who cares if the bridgecam is updating or not. If you want to see a "live" picture of the Keweenaw, follow these simple instructions....

1. Disconnect the cable/satellite input wire from your TV.
2. Turn on the TV.
3. Turn the volume down to 0 or mute.
4. Sit back and enjoy.

And presto, a "live" picture from the Keweenaw!! This same method also works well to receive the "official" Yooper weather forecast for the next 4 months!! ;-)

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 05:09 pm:

Thank you Captain Paul! It's all snow to me!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 08:04 pm:

Marsha--Thank you, though I think he may have lost the knack
with his computer as I haven't had a response from an e-mail I sent
this morning. Here's hoping though cause I know he would LOVE
Pasty Cam.

If a person from Helsinki attempts to trick you, would you call that Finn-agling? :o)
HAPPY 89th INDEPENDANCE DAY to all the Suomalainens! Been watching ch 13 tonight for their FIRE AND ICE show about the winter war of Finland and Russia. Also a couple videos from a few years ago, The Coffee House - "The Kantele" and "Uusi Aika", the changing times in Finnish America. (Uusi Aika = changing times) Really enjoyed them. T.G.I.F. = Thank God I'm Finn!!
Hei, cousin Jarmo ja Hannelle.

By FRNash/PHX, AZ (Frnash) on Thursday, December 7, 2006 - 01:39 am:

"Finn-agling?"

OK, one good pun deserves another:
INDEPENDANCE? Is that a DANCE of INDEPENDENCE?

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Thursday, December 7, 2006 - 07:07 am:

That one belongs in the Department of Redundancy department.
