Temperatures are declining and the National Weather Service page says "chance rain/snow, chance rain/snow, chance snow, chance snow." October seems to be ending earlier than usual :-)

The Hut Inn continues to be a busy place, even at lunch time. And the pasty kitchen makes all of greater Kearsarge smell great. If you need to cure a pasty craving, we can help. Just click over to the order form.

Morning!

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 07:57 am:

Good Morning from dull and cloudy wet damp and dreary Berkley Michigan Grandson Tim Ozanich is with me this morning and I now have to watch Sponge Bob with him.

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 08:36 am:

Having to share Sponge Bob can be trying, but he is your Grandson.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 08:51 am:

Rowdy, Now my secret is out. I am a Sponge Bob devotee. Tim wants to go to the shop and make something and I want to stay by the fireplace and stay warm. Jimmie the fat white cat is all curled up next to the fireplace and enjoying the heat so I don't know why I should go out and let him have it all to himself while I go and freeze.

Mr. Bill (MrBill) - any more freighter pictures from yesterday afternoon?

By Debra J McCumber (Debrajean) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 09:33 am:

Sur5er-

Just saw your post from yesterday. The move went great and we are finally settled in. We live in a really cute house with a great yard in Norway, MI. The neighbors are really friendly and there is so much to do up here. And I guess you know that Abbi just loves it up here. She has made friends with all of the neighbor dogs already and we make sure to go on atleast one hike a day. Usually two. I will post some pictures soon and when I do I will let you know.

I'm so happy to be living in Da U.P.!!

I have noticed though that the majority of the people, at least in this area of the U.P., say "hey" and not "eh". : ) It's cute.

How have you been?

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 10:44 am:

Debrajean,
Glad to hear that you made your move to da UP :) Can't wait till you post pics of your new place. You'll have to keep us abreast on your survival of your first UP winter, eh ;)
Would love to move up there by the end of next summer...so I am keeping my fingers crossed and working diligently on my goal. Made that trucking case an issue of political debate for the Indiana elections...so maybe I got a lot of folks riled here, and they will just throw me out of this darn state, and I will be able to go home that much sooner :)

Hey Dean, received my pasties and sauce yesterday, we're having them tonight! Highly recommend to the reader's, that they place their orders, it's simple and painless, and if you want to call your order in, Debbie is great to talk to, she'll even give you a weather update!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 02:55 pm:

I'm waiting for the newest Steve Hamilton book, which I have reserved, to come into my library.

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 03:01 pm:

Kathy P. aren't they good stories. Picked up one book I recently ordered of his. On the way home I read the back cover, and I already have it!!!Yoiks. Will have to wait for the next one. Wish I could give you this one. :>) When he describes the cold/snow one can feel it to your bones.

By Bob Jewell, Farmington Hills (Rjewell) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 05:10 pm:

Marsha,
I was lucky. Our library ordered six copies of The Stolen Season and I got on the reserve list early so I've read it. It's as good as his previous novels. I have a place in the Les Cheneaux's so I enjoyed the setting.

By Nicky the spoon (Spoontroll) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 05:38 pm:

Les Cheneaux's are the place to be!! beats trollville

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 05:44 pm:

Finally...Someone mentioning Les Cheneaux. On my list of places
to see next summer. I love the UP cookbook that was written by
someone from there. So now I need to scout up Steve Hamilton's
book. Thanks for the tips.
