These two colorful specimens are what remains of our flower garden here in Lake Linden. Being covered with pellets of snow though, hasn't really diminished the beauty they still have as they proudly stand above the white carpeting the ground. Getting a snowstorm in October gives us all the opportunity to observe two seasons combined into one, as Dotty Kinnun shows us with this picture of the view from her SUMMER home. I love the contrast of the different colors with the white snow, blue water and the orange oak leaves still hanging tight on their branches.

Good morning all you Yoopers, how is the weather today? Will it be rain? Cold? Hot? Snow?

Hello, I stumbled across you yesterday while looking for pictures of snow UP there. What a delight these pics are!

We made our first trip to the UP 2 yrs ago and our hearts have been longing to move ever since. We're getting close enough now we can almost taste it. I don't know if this site will make it harder or easier to wait. :)

Thanks so kindly ~

Yeah -- I have one spike of a blue delphinium sticking up, several spikes of globe thistle, and some very sad drooping cosmos.

Stunning fire-and-ice photos on Jarmo's site (above) under the title of "celebrations/parties/folklore".
I would love to know how you build those snowball luminarias, Jarmo...and how long they last without melting. Or does the cold temps keep up with the heat?

By Ray Laakaniemi (Rlaakan) on Sunday, October 15, 2006 - 10:13 am:

Wonderful pictures, Jarmo. Kiitos. What part of Finland is this?

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 10:15 am:

It's not 2 often that 1 gets 2 c seasons overlap, such as Autumn
leaves and plants amongst a snowy setting. Good pics.
