Eight years ago, Jonathan Hopper collected this beautiful shot of Lake Fanny Hooe (right) and the waters of Copper Harbor. It doesn't look all that different today, other than the progression of the colors.

The weather service says this won't be the best weekend for leaf peeping, with rain predicted later today and through Sunday. Rain and a little chilly -- time to grab a good book and turn on the furnace.

For any of you that are interested in hiking in the Upper Peninsula, but are thinking it might be too difficult because you're a senior, have physical challenges or if you'd just like to take short scenic hikes, there's a new book out called Gentle Hikes of Upper Michigan. Also on Monday at 1:00 p.m. there will be a walking tour of Nara Nature Park. Public is welcome to attend and have a book signed.

Tuesday, Sept. 26th at 11:00 a.m. - Book signing at Grandpa's Barn in Copper Harbor

Good morning everyone :) Rainy and chilly here on Lake Michigan.

Have a wonderful visit in da UP Peter...don't forget, to take plenty of pictures to share with those of us who are less fortunate...sniffle, sniffle.

Liz, so when are the predicting snow for your part of Idaho?

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Friday, September 22, 2006 - 12:54 pm:

Rowdy: I'd been hearing of the car called an Aura for months now. My husband just saw one this week. Aura means "the plow" in Finnish. Not a good name for a car when you think of it that way (unless it's a 4wd)!

By Peter J. Makousky (Peterj) on Friday, September 22, 2006 - 01:04 pm:

What is the weather like in Houghton now?
The Cam doesn't show a date and time and clear weather. Is it really that nice? I thought it was raining?

By dlp (Babyseal) on Friday, September 22, 2006 - 02:53 pm:

PeterJ: Check out this webcam: http://www.admin.mtu.edu/urel/cams/fund/still.html
It's the one I use now.
