There's a new family residing UP North in Lac La Belle and Cathy Westcott caught them on a family outing. Looks like Mom and Dad are giving the youngsters a swimming lesson, then settled them on shore to dry out those downy feathers in the sun. Sure hope they remembered their sunscreen! I couldn't resist adding the third shot from Donn de Yampert, because I knew that once you looked into those fluffy little faces, you'd forget all about the mess these guys can make when they grow up. This is such a great time of year with all the newness sprouting out around us - - leaves, flowers, and little creatures.

They are TOO cute.

What an introduction to the world.

we've got tons of those little guys running around by every pond and water hole in the county..down here in Wisconsin.
They are very cool to watch. They grow up real fast, unlike us humans, who, especially the male side, don't grow up until 50 years old or so.

Hey Dave, Does that mean you've finally grown up? Heaven forbid!!!!

What beautiful baby pics...and you're right Mary, looking at the cute fuzzy babies makes you forget the havic these birds cause, when they are adults. I think everyone has a story about being chased by one of these :)

I was just out playing golf and while standing on the T Box waiting to hit there was a big bruha going on in a small lake with a bout 4 Geese, at first I thought they were fighting to protect about an 8 week old gossling who was in the middle, but they stomped on him until he did not come up. I guess he might have gotten injured and it was mother natures way of doing it job.

Hey Sur5er, You're having some senior moments today. For one, you thought that Fran was Margaret, and for two you thought that Toivo was Mary. Oldtimer's disease setting in? Maybe you should quit working so hard and get some sleep. lol

They're such beautiful birds, but I think we would appreciate them more if they were a bit more rare. Down here they foul up every inland beach, golf courses, playgrounds, playing fields, etc. Grass in, grass out. The last few weeks of school there were some on the soccer field outside my classroom, and they methodically worked the field from one end to the other and then back again, almost like machines.

I think the two adults are a Michi-gander and a Michi-goose!

I can't believe how awesome some of the photos are on this site. I know the UP has much to offer, but these photos make me homesick, while at the same time, letting me enjoy their beauty. These today are so awesome!
