By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Sunday, May 7, 2006 - 07:44 am:

Good morning, all! This afternoon will be our church's centennial celebration: Thetford United Methodist Church in Clio (just north of Flint). Thetford is a smallish country church with a big heritage. Hope to see a lot of old friends today.

Nice sunny morning but chilly. Will only be in the 40's today but hey the sun is out! It's going to be warmer & in the 70's tomorrow. Just so you girls don't do that snow dance again!LOL Enjoy your day. Hubby is doing what he loves, his yardwork.

Marsha, Congratulations, 100 years what an accomplishment. Is your church a country church or are you in a small city/town? It seems that in smaller country type areas the church means more and is respected more then in the large cities. our church celebrated eighty years last year and the celebration wasn't very well attended. My own kids who went there most of their life never attended. Maybe it is an age thing. Cotton, Sunny here and no chance for snow, neighbor is cutting his grass with shorts on so must be warm out. Precious turned the heat up,since she is cold.

Our church is out in the country and we live in a small town. After reading the posts on the previous page, the lightbulb went on and I realized that some of the pictures I'm getting ready for a display are over 100 years old! They are of ancestors of my husband.

Marsha--

Hope you had a wonderful celebration.
Our church in Toronto is small in size, but
strong in spirit. We had a splendid 50th
anniversary celebration just ten years ago. It
was so nice to see past pastors and
parishoners.

Many Sundays there are only 30-40 people in
attendance. Still there is a real commitment
which was evident yesterday when about 20
people gathered for the annual church clean
up. Now it's on to working on the community
garden. The harvest of the garden goes to a
local food bank.
