Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 07:22 am:

Where do the months go? They pass so quickly at times and so do our dear loved ones and friends. As our end of the month tradition of remembering folks who've left us continues, we recall the following friends:

Joseph C. Bonenfant
Avalon Erkkila
Sophia Ferries
William "Billy" Harvey
Beatrice Siler
Ida Trenary
Judy Wenberg
Service members who gave all

We encourage you to add the names of those you care about and want to remember. Special thanks to Paul Roberts who supplied today's Quincy sunrise for our memorial reflection.

Absolutely GREAT picture again today! You know me, anything that looks peaceful and serene is a hit.

Today I think I'll remember my cousins, Brenda and Shirley LeBlanc from Lake Linden, who died in a car crash 40 years ago this month due to a drunk driver. In fact, I think the anniversary of their deaths was yesterday. They were just in the prime of their lives when a drunk driver cut them short. Shirley was just graduating from high school and Brenda had graduated the year before. What a tragedy for the family and for all of us who knew them. And as always, remember the servicemen who have given their lives for their country. God Bless them!!!

She will be missed terribly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 07:41 am:

Deepest condolences to the family and friends of a lovely, talented, beautiful young woman with a strong and loving family and many friends who incomprehensibly slipped into addiction to hard drugs and was killed at age 17 by the heroin-fantanyl mix that is circulating in Detroit and other cities.

Please, educators and other leaders, do all that you can to get out the message to our young people that they must always seek adult counsel when worried about a friend. The fear of losing the friend is nothing compared to the horrible grief and guilt of facing a consequence they did nothing to avert.

By Tanya K. (Missskippy) on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 08:08 am:

In memory of my Father, Ron Walstrom, who died 27 years ago on 3 May 1979. We love you and miss you every day Daddy.

When somebody dies, a cloud turns into
an angel, and flies up to tell God
to put another flower on a pillow.
A bird gives the message back to
the world, and sings a silent prayer
that makes the rain cry. People dis-
appear, but they never really go away.
The spirits up there put the sun to
bed, wake up grass, and spin the
earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you
can see them dancing in a cloud during
the day-time, when they're supposed
to be sleeping. They paint the rain-
bows and also the sunsets and make
waves splash and tug at the tide.
They toss shooting stars and listen to
wishes. And when they sing wind-
songs, they whisper to us, don't
miss me too much. The view is nice
and I'm doing just fine.

By Gary W. Long (Gary_in_co) on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 08:09 am:

Nice sunrise!! Paul should get the Early Bird award for getting up early to take that photo. Anyone can hang around at the end of the day and shoot a sunset, but it takes dedication to wake up early for the sunrise. It also shows that the renewed hope of another day is upon us all.

By dlp (Babyseal) on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 08:14 am:

In memory of my dear mother, Sandra Lee Armstrong(Lampinen) who passed away much too soon on January 7th, 2005. Still hard to believe God needed her more than me... I love you mom, Erik.

By Bonnie Hartman (Bonniehartman) on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 08:56 am:

My Mom, Avalon Erkkila loved the Copper Country. Her kitchen always had a bouquet of wildflowers on display. Baking with rhubarb, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries to chokecherries and cranberries, her kitchen was THE place to be. On every trip to "town", from Gay, she was on alert with the hopes of seeing a fawn, bear, or any other wild creature. When you walk past a lilac bush, take a whiff for Avalon! Thanks for the chance to once again pay tribute to loved ones. Bonnie Erkkila Hartman, Gainesville, FL

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 - 09:04 am:

God's Garden

God's garden has need of a little flower.
It had grown for a time here below.
But in tender love
He took her above.
In more favorable lime to grow.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, June 1, 2006 - 11:52 am:

Jack, We have had many dogs in our family, but the only one that hurt when he died was my favorite, Max, he was not a brave dog or did he have any traits that would make him dog like, he was a Yorkie, a little baby who was afraid of the dark, loud noises, and strangers. His one good quality was his devotion to my then baby grandaughter Andrea, and never messing in the house. If a stranger got near her he would bark,a rare thing for him, and attack their legs. I still have his ashes in my safe can't make myself bury them.
