As we review Pasty Cam daily pictures from eight years ago, we recall the first sponsor to appear on these pages. Laurium Manor Inn has been the subject of a number of the daily discussions over the years, and was also one of the first to step up and offer their support for the Pasty Central website. As other sponsors began to come on board we were able to continue and expand the features, add to our staff, and eventually become a full service Internet provider.

These days Laurium Manor Inn has an additional connection (literally) to the pasty folks, as this historic dwelling is also a Pasty.NET hotspot, providing in-room wireless to the guests. Although for the life of me I can't imagine how anyone could possibly spend time on the computer, when there is so much history to experience during your stay at Laurium Manor.

Beautiful old furnishings in that room. Like "somehwere in Time". Are those original furnishings from when it was a funeral home?

Good morning...and Happy St. Patty's Day :) Got my corn beef a soaking, for Saturday's dinner.

Llamamama, You should have smooth sailing and safe travels through Indiana and Illinios...as the snow storm never hit here. It headed a bit further north-east of us, and across Lake Michigan, completely avoiding us....but it looks as though parts of south west Michigan may have gotten hit by the snow.

Grampy, I believe you saw a Robin. I was outside Sunday afternoon, and one flew past my garage. I live in Painesdale, one of the snow kingdoms of the CC. Robins are a sure sign Spring is around the corner! Yahoo!!!!

Ilovelucy2~ I was wondering the same thing as you. Where is Yooper? I have been waiting for the leprechaun all day. Maybe she is sunning herself on a beach somewhere tropical. Instead of Where's Waldo, Where's Yooper? (I think Yooper is a girl) :)

By Seismic Pirate (Marc) on Friday, March 17, 2006 - 06:14 pm:

Inwis,
In case you missed yesterday's answer:
"Yes,
Dr. Theodore J. Bornhorst's "Self-guided geological field trip to the Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan", 1994, 1996. It will guide you there and explain the mineral composition and processes that created it. I think the authors are actually listed Theodore J. Bornhorst and William I. Rose, both Geology professors at MTU.

Basically, it is a layer of Jacobsville Sandstone that was folded by compressional forces generated by the Grenville Orogeny approximately 1.1 billion years ago. The surrounding layers were more easily weatherable and have long since disappeared. The wall is the vertical part of a fold (the side). I hope Dr. Bornhorst would approve-that was off the top of my head...""

Mikie: Did you get to Berkley for your corned beef
and cabbage? I cooked my own and brought the rest
to work to share with my employees. Sure was good.
Had a pasty for St. Urho's Day.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Friday, March 17, 2006 - 11:02 pm:

Down, If I may be so bold as to call you that I had corned beef with cabbage and one large boiled potatoe along with carrots. enjoyed all of it. Along with two diet cokes I was thoroughly satified. Good news my son and his family bought a house and will soon be leaving home. Boy will I miss my granddaughter, but can't wait to have my shop back and all of their stuff out of it.
