Sur5er, When you're looking for books, make sure you look for JAMES Patterson, NOT SAM Patterson. I don't know if there is an author going by that name, but wouldn't want you to be confused. James Patterson also writes some great mystery books about a detective by the name of Alex Cross. I haven't read a bad one. I think the first one is "Along Came a Spider". The first in the series of the women's mystery murder club is "1st To Die". They're both great series. Anyway, good morning to the U.P. It's cold here in MN again but supposed to get into the high 20's. 195 inches of snow, eh:) We have about 10. Still 195 isn't a lot for the Copper Country. When I tell people about this, they really don't believe me. Oh well, have a great day. I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go.

Good morning from Florida, a chilly morning here.

Good morning. It is 71 degrees here in the mid-keys bright and sunny.A cool but lovely day.

By Musicteacher (Musicteacher) on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 - 12:10 pm:

It's not 71 degrees in my house, yet alone outside!!!

The wind is blowing in Calumet again today. It was 16
when I got up and the expected high is 19... wow.

Usedtobeayooper, My mistake...I wrote Sam Patterson, instead of James Patterson. I think I need to keep my men straight, eh ;) Thanks for catching that, before anyone got the author's name incorrect, from my post.

Now this is what I call winter. Temps here have been in the teens and low 20's. Now if Charlotte would just get her snow dance going, we'd be in our glory :) Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow!

Has anyone been checking out the Mighty Mac bridge cam lately? For the past couple of days, they have had high wind warnings over the straights. Actually saw a convoy going across the bridge, in one of the cam shots. Yikes.

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. The clouds are back but the snow isn't with them.

Sur5er, I've been trying to do the snow dance but it really is hard to do it here in the library. Maybe on the walk home I can get it going. At least the temps feel more like winter now.

Cold here today, but dry as a bone.

While on the other page mentioning our grand daughter music teacher, I thought of her wedding in the summer of '04. She and her husband to be, honored Grandma and Grandpa by asking us to do a Blessing for the newly weds at their reception. Just before the big moment for us, the Matron of Honor toasted the couple. She had the bride put hand flat on the table. Then she asked the new husband to put his hand on the brides hand! "Now Matt" she said, "This will be the last time you will have the upper hand!" It brought down the house!

Sur5er, No problem with the author. I didn't realize you are from Charlotte. I'm going there in 2007 for the Women's National Bowling Championships. I don't go every year but have never been to Charlotte so am looking forward to that particular one. As it gets closer I'll have to ask you what the weather is supposed to be like. When is the best time to come? We usually go sometime between April and June. Aren't you guys the ones who gave us Clay Aiken? Love that guy's voice.

Usedtobeayooper, You are such a hoot. I was referring to Miss Charlotte from Mishawaka...not Charlotte North Carolina. Nope, now Miss Charlotte and I didn't give ya'll Clay Aikens... drats. 'Bout the only good thing to come out of Indiana is corn ;)

Usedtobeyooper, I almost forgot...I have friends who live in Lumberton NC. Best advice I can give you...don't ever visit NC in August. Yikes, how do they breathe, with the air and humidity that thick?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 03:02 pm:

Sur5er, Thanks for the advice. I'm sure we'll be there either in April or May. I'm excited as I've never been but I'm not one for humidity so I'll definitely stay away in August. I'm in the good old Copper Country in August, swimming in good old Gitchee Gumee, picking berries, visiting Copper Harbor, and just remembering the good old days. I think this year I'm going to show my husband Pictured Rocks in Munising though. He's never been there and I love it there. Maybe we'll take the cruise. There's just not enough time to get everything in that I want to when I'm there because there's my folks to spend time with too. Oh well, we'll do it all some day.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 03:04 pm:

Sur5er, My mistake but glad you knew something about North Carolina anyway. I agree with you on Indiana. Best thing to happen to that state was having Bobby Knight move to Texas. lol

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 06:56 pm:

Usedtobeayooper, I still say, that the motto for Indiana should be "Speedbump between Ohio and Illinois". :)
Best time to go to Pictured Rocks, is the end of April or during the month of May...depending on the weather. That way, you don't have to deal with the tourists and the black flies...but then again, you already knew that, eh ;)
