In the voluminous Pasty Cam archives, when I did a keyword search on "snowgo", it was surprising to find so many occurrences of this misspelling. As Robert Torreano shows us in the WIDE view above, it should be "Snogo", or more properly: sNOGo

There will be a whole lot of sNOGo-ing going on after the dumping we had during the past week. We must be approaching 300" by now.

The second shot is from Betty Catalano, which she labels "snow storm Kingsford - corner of Breen and Quincy - - in the 1930's". I'm sure we could zoom in on Google Maps to the exact location. If only we could zoom back in time to visit with the folks in those snow-bound houses...

has a special allure, I have pictures of a snow tunnel to the street in
front O.D.Gardner's house roughly a 100 years ago.

Good pictures today. Enjoy seeing all that snow but definitely would not like to have to shovel it.This winter season is sliding away so fast! The older I get the faster time goes.

sNOGo's used to scare the &$#@ out of me when I was a kid. I remember walking to the bus stop and it was always so dark in the morning. Just hearing that machine used to make me run a fast as a girl can run in snowpants. Whew, I still get the shivers.

It appears that the SNOGO company is still in business after all these years.

Weren't the snOgo's bright orange? I remember this exact model; but it looked so much bigger when I was a child. The blades were as tall as me and so loud! I was terrified of it and I ran away too. I still rememeber waking up to the bright orange light flashing in my dark bedroom. Still gives me the chills!
Speaking of chills; -11° in my corner of the copper country this morning.

Wow, Amazing pictures of all that snow. Something about snow, just gives me that cozy content feeling.
Kelly that scoop is huge on the snogo...it's almost as tall as the front of the semi...which would be about a good six feet. Wonder how many parents told their kiddies at dinner time, "now you eat your peas, so that snogo doesn't scoop you up" ;)

Probably so, I don't think the first picture was from Kinsford, just the second.

Houghton County Road Comm had one just like that in the late 50s. I swamped for 2 years in it. Boy was that wooden cab cold!!

I remember my Mom telling me I couldn't make tunnels in the snowbanks because I wouldn't hear the snOgo coming and it would grind me up.
I never, never tunnelled!
Though (if I had been a brighter child) I would have just tunneled in the back yard instead.

That looks like a Snogo mounted on a FWD chassis. The FWD truck was made and used for many heavy duty uses including pushing the large v-plows used on main highways. That looks like that could the FWD logo on the door.

Did you notice the height of the snow bank in front of the snogo? When I was little the snow banks between our house and Ritchie's corner were very tall(at least they looked huge to me) and I would hear that huge snow plow reving up and I ran like mad.There were no driveways or places to get out of the way. They were so tall it was like this big tunnel-you could hardly see the sky. The snoblowers were fun to watch! They blew the snow way into the field next to where the $Bay P.O. is now

When I was a kid in Paavola, the snOgo would come late at night (or very early in the morning). When I heard that loud motor running I would run to a window to watch. The exhaust for the blower motor was straight up on the back engine and the pipe was red hot with a blue flame shooting out. The snow seemed to fly SO far out of the chute. Very impressive to a young one. The county didn't plow the road past our house regularly so the snow would be pretty deep. They would open the road when Mom would have wood or coal delivered. We didn't have a car then.

Now dats how it looked at da Tech in 64....I lasted till March then dropped out and went home....only to return rather than face Vietnam....only to be drafted at 24 1/2 after graduation......what a ride...........See ya on da 4th of July if da avgas is available and da creek don't rise.........
