Baby it's cold outside! Our first little tot is ready to play in the U.P. snow, complete with winter choppers to keep those tiny hands warm. Cold weather photography has it's challenges, just ask Frank Anderson who is behind the camera, freezing his fingers off, while patiently waiting for little boy blue to give him a grin! In the next shot, Sam shows us all how to wear a Mad Bomber hat with panache. No way this little tyke is going to let the frigid air keep him (or Mom, Brita Haapala) inside. With the unique variety of winter accessories available to keep you warm, there's really no excuse to not get out there and enjoy the season, just follow the lead of these youngsters!

I remember putting an old washtub full of snow in the middle of the kitchen floor when we lived north of Centennial Heights so our son could play in the comfort of the house. The snow was soon packable and he was warmer except for hands. It was fun for him and the floor got an extra mopping.

What cute kids! The snow & cold never kept us in when we were kids. We were always out there sledding, or skating, or building forts, or building snowmen, having snowball fithts, you name it. We'd come in for a cup of hot chocolate, wrap a blanket around us and sit on the heat register while our clothes dried out and head right back out there. Those were the days. Now all kids want to do is sit in and play video games. WE knew how to have fun!

Morning All.
Deb S. Ahh yes remember those days well. Almost had to be dragged inside. Even as we grew older we still loved to be outdoors. Of course as older kids we knew that if you stayed inside mom would surely find some chores for you to perform. Enjoy the day everyone.

Usedtobeayooper; sounds like my youth! Still have a propensity to get some reoccurring frostbite. Result of one too many times staying out too long!! I still love to be outside rather then in the house. :->

Love the little "yooper" hat on the boy. Perfect photo for the UP!!! Adorable kids---a little bit of snow and fresh air is just what the doctor ordered.

Kids' pictures always bring a smile. Poor boy #1 looks like he froze his feet right off. Maybe he's just a crawler and this won't slow him down. Advice to boy #2: Remove that hat prior to going rabbit or squirrel hunting, especially if you-know-who is in the hunting party.

Love the pics of the kiddies with the nice rosey cheeks :)

Notroll, What a great way for your kiddies to enjoy the snow.
Usedtobeayooper, Ditto on that thought. One of the things that suprised me when we moved from Michigan to Indiana, is that the kids don't play outside in the snow here. With the lakeshore and the national parks in this area, you would think they would be out in the groves, either snowshoeing or cross country skiing...or even hitting some of those sled hills.
First winter we were here in Indiana, the kiddies had a snow day...and they invited their friends over for a day of playing in the snow. I ended up with more than 15 kiddies in my yard, who thought the Michigan version of what do to on a snow day, was the neatest thing ;)
Oh yeah, definately remember the days of sitting by the heat register to warm up...mittens and socks laying out to dry...and homemade hot chocolate...and not that packaged stuff :)

My goodness where IS everyone? I bet you're all out enjoying the snow or grumbling about clearing the driveway or sidewalks :> My memories of my little ones were from a different point of view. Six paire of wet boots. six pairs (at least 6)of wet, dripping mittens. stocking caps, scarves etc., etc. But there were memories of sleds bounding and bobbing down our gravel road or our hill behind the barn. Squeals and hoots and now powerful memories that can never compare with Disney World.

Good evening from Mishawaka, IN. I remember my two boys playing in the snow all the time here in IN. Our yard looked a plow had come through and cleared the snow away by the time they were finished. My youngest used to love to crawl all over the yard on his knees. Duct became a great friend during that time. Silver knees are cool.
