Morning!

By happyooper (Trigal) on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 08:31 am:

Good morning all. It's Friday again tomorrow! :)
Lorelei,
The snow was perfect last night. It was a little workout, but not as bad as I thought it'd be.
Marc,
We snowshoe on the north side of the highway between Trimountain and Painesdale. There are lots of flat trails that the snowmobilers stay away from. Apparently it's a pretty popular spot as there are usually cars parked at the end of Holappa road, where we park. Get home soon; with the weather we're having, there won't be any snow left by the time you get here! ;)

Good morning everyone :) Checking out the forecast for this weekend...and they are predicting some snow for this weekend. Yeeeee haaaaaaaw! Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow! :) :)

By lz (Llamamama) on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 12:29 pm:

Sur5er that fickle Lake Michigan is playing with us! Must depend upon where you fall as we have rain in the weekend forecast with chance of snow on Monday. Temps do not look that promising. We have a couple of inches on the ground covered with ice, but 47 for tomorrow's high. After November/early December we sure have not had much of a winter. Thank goodness for Pasty.cam so we can at least see beautiful pics of what we miss!

Trigal,
Thanks for the tip and save some snow for me!! If all goes well, I'll chopper off of here in 5 days and be back in the snow in 8. For the record, it was 94 deg and very sunny here, yesterday. It's 3:30 am right now and about 80 deg...

I'm so sad that another historic beauty is gone in the Keweenaw.

We don't have but about five in the county. Shoot, Amarillo is just about a 100 years old.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 08:52 pm:

Good evening from Mishawaka, IN.

Sur5er, I sure hope some of that snow comes my way. So far I heard rain for Saturday and maybe some snow Sunday or Monday.

Been a long week. Basketball tomorrow night. My 5 year old granddaughter, Erika, will be going to the game with me. She is hooked already. She can't wait for basketball season.

Beautiful sunset shots from Sharon's webcam tonight!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 10:04 pm:

Llamamama and Charlotte...wouldn't you know it...but they changed the forecast again. Instead of snow...it is going to be rain all weekend... with the possibility of snow on Monday. Oh well, at least it won't hamper my plans for Girlie Girl night, this weekend. Had thought I might have to cancel if the snow got too bad.
Great news today: my daughter and her fiance will be moving back to Indiana in the next couple of weeks...as he'll be sworn into the local pd here, the middle of February :)

By Seismic Pirate (Marc) on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 10:49 pm:

Sur5er,
Congratulations!! It's nice to have family close by. For my wife and I, all family is at least 10hrs away and it stinks. We try to get them to move to the Copper Country but they all know how much snow we get and are too darn wimpy:)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 11:18 pm:

Sur5er, I can certainly understand that. My parents are in the Copper Country and would like nothing more than for me and my husband to move there but there's SOOOOO much snow. I was there in '83, I believe, when there was over 400 inches. YUCK!!! And my kids are all here in MN so I wish my parents would move out here but they do love the Copper Country. I do too in the summer and for a visit during the winter. Maybe some day though cuz my husband really loves it up there. And I've introduced him to ALL THOSE BERRIES! Goodness we've got the jam. And that thimbleberry jam can't be beaten. Who knows? Never say never, I say. Anyway, time to say good night. The photos were great today! I really look forward to them.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 11:23 pm:

Al Harjala, Wow! Is this in Finland? Reminds me of an old 3 day Copper Country blizzard of years ago. Voi Kauhea!! The Cub Cadet wouldn't stand much of a chance there.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Friday, January 27, 2006 - 12:30 am:

Marc and Usedtobeayooper...Thank you :) Will be great to have my daughter home again...or at least just down the road a bit ;)
Usedtobeayooper, Hopefully someday you will be able to move home, to be near your family...that would definately make the snow more bearable, eh. ;)
Marc, Sorry your family members are snow wimps. So you can't entice them with visions of snowmobiling ...sledding...snowshoeing...downhill skiing...and cross country skiing...in August, eh :)

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Friday, January 27, 2006 - 07:10 am:

Sur5er,

So happy to hear that you'll be closer to your
daughter soon. It was my birthday recently.
My daughter, knowing what I love most, sent
me a pair of socks that say "I love da UP" and
a jar of--you guessed it--thimbleberry jam!
I just had some of the jam on an English
muffin and feel ready to face the world. The
cup of Joe helped too. Heigh ho! Heigh ho! It's
off to work I'll soon go!"

Aren't you supposed to be leaving for the UP
pretty soon? How are those reports coming?

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Friday, January 27, 2006 - 07:37 am:

Kosk, How sweet...UP socks and Thimbleberry jam. Pass the jam please, so I can have some on my bagle :)
Da UP move is another two years away...but hubby is getting antsy :) He had a house inspector over on Monday, going over some things that he needs to do before selling the house.
About the Indiana support orders in violation of DOT laws...I have to send some papework to the senator this morning. My find of the week: an Indiana support order, that court orders a truck driver, to drive 6000 hours a week. Hope I never meet him on the highway, eh. Welcome to Indiana. Yikes. Can I go home to Michigan now?
