His obituary stated that when you bought firewood from John, you would be certain that you were getting a full cord and maybe then some. We need more folks like him.

I received notice from the Canadian government on January 27,2006 that an amendment to the Ontario Heritage Act was made protecting the Edmund Fitzgerald & two other ships. All three contain human remains. There will be No dives to the wrecksites unless it is for archaeological reasons. A license will have to issued by the Province. They are now a heritage shipwrecks. Violators to this Act will be fined a potential fine of $1 million. A fellow Fitzgerald family member & I have been trying for 11 years to get this law passed.
So Dad (RansonCundy, watchman) & your fellow crew mates can eternally rest in peace in your "Consecrated" & "Legal" gravesite. I love & miss you.

By Marvin P. Manninen (Marv53) on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 12:06 pm:

Remembering Sgt. Dennis James Flanagan. I learned about his death in Iraq the same day that the 107th came back home from Iraq. I was a ROTC parent in Florida at Lecanto High school when my daughter was in the same unit as Dennis. Dennis was one of those bright young people who joined the army after 911. He was going to school to be a history teacher at the time. He died for his country on his second tour and was buried in Arlington last Friday. There were tears of joy in my eyes as I watched the 107th being escorted back home from Iraq last week by every fire truck in the Copper Country. I also had thoughts of Dennis and family in my heart down in Citrus County Florida. May God be with them.

A woman of dignity, grace, gentleness and character. I will miss her always.

By Kristin (Nursekristin77) on Monday, October 15, 2007 - 08:29 pm:

Yesterday I went to Washington DC. I was at one of the Memorials there in front of Reflections. I looked up the stairs and from a distance a guy walked by. He had that certain lean to his walk and move to his step. His shirt was not tucked in and his hair style looked strikingly familiar. He passed by and was slipping away into the crowd. I wanted to call out to him because just for a second I got stuck in another time, when Dennis Flanagan would have looked back with a smile.
