We’re joining Stacey Flood today, for an adventure along Lake Superior’s shoreline near Copper Harbor. It looks like there is still a good ice build up, despite some of the warmer 40° days we’ve had off and on lately. I like the looks of those floating ice chunks and then the bumpy shore and what Stacey described as huge ice balls. I wonder if the bumpy shot was ice balls that then had waves wash over them and freeze another layer on top of the balls? There’s always something different happening on the shores of the Big Lake in the winter months.

Today’s bottom photo come to us from Brenda Leigh. One of her favorite holidays is St. Patrick’s Day, so she really gets into the spirit of it with a shamrock shadow in front of that old wooden wagon wheel cart.

We figured it would be a fun way to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

We’re joining Steve Brimm once again, for a look at the colors and moods of winter on the Keweenaw Peninsula and Lake Superior. Before you know it, all the ice and snow will be gone, so enjoy it while you can!

St. Patrick’s Day observes the death of St.
Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Born in
Roman Britain, he was kidnapped and brought to
Ireland as a slave at 16. He later escaped but
returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing
Christianity to its people. He is believed to have
died in the small village of Saul in 461 AD, not
far from the town of Downpatrick in County Down,
where he is reputedly buried. Over the years, the
holiday has evolved into a celebration of Irish
culture with parades, special foods, dancing,
drinking, and a whole lot of green.

I second Alex's post, I was thinking the exact same
thing!! One word comes to mind with regards to the
video.... Solitude!

Beautiful video.

When I saw Mary's caption "Great Balls of Ice", I immediately thought of Jerry Lee Lewis but then reality set it... oops, wrong temperature extreme.
