We had the perfect weather for getting outside this past weekend and lots of folks took advantage of it, like Melanie Hakala Rossi and friends. They headed out to the Jacobsville area and did some snowshoeing in the sunshine. Absolutely gorgeous views of Lake Superior with beautiful hues of blue in the water and the sky, it’s a treat for the eyes for sure. You can see how high above the Big Lake they are, with the sandstone cliffs below them. My favorite here today is the fourth shot with a good look at the sandstone in the cliffs and on the shoreline, too. Stunning! And of course the photo of Finley and his new friend is fun, too!

Brian Whitens from 906 Outdoors takes us to Negaunee for a look at the only natural Luge track in North America, along with a talk with Greg Kretovic of Michigan Nature Photos.

Oh no, snowy overhang cliff edges!

Nice, almost spring shots but it reminds me too much of one winter when I was 7 or 8 and I fell into an open septic tank.

I think I've been re-traumatized.

Cool UP blue pix and a well done video!

These pictures are pretty enough and looks warm
enough to be out there. The blue skies really
help. I think we're nearly there.

How beautiful is this?

And is one of five natural luge tracks in the
world. THE WORLD~ AND it's the only one in the
United States!~ That's HUGE for the luge~ lol

I don't think I've ever seen a bad Discovering. I
love that show....I'm an addict.

Uncle Chuck...is that a new baby in your house? I
love it! That lil' thing is beyond precious~

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Saturday, March 11, 2023 - 04:35 pm:

Yikes!!! Why was there an open septic tank to fall into?!! And how did you get out?!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Saturday, March 11, 2023 - 07:37 pm:

NMU has to hang on in the 3rd period to get the win!! Go Cats go!!!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Saturday, March 11, 2023 - 11:00 pm:

Hi Donna, no new pups in our household, although
that little guy would be great to bring home, but
the Boss would never have a big dog.

I was merely poking a little fun at the MTU Huskies
for tonight's game, which I understand, Jbuck's and
my Alma Mater, NMU, did win convincingly.

Way to go Cats!! Wish I could have been there, this
rivalry is naturally a classic and a lot of fun.

By D. A. (Midwested) on Sunday, March 12, 2023 - 12:53 am:

jbuck,
Congrats on the NMU win and shut out tonight.
College hockey sure is different compared to my days at Tech some 50 years ago.

I was ice skating with a friend on a small lake near his house. After a walk up a steep hill from the lake I saw a hole in the snow. Of course, I needed to investigate. The hole was a septic tank that had been opened for some sort of maintenance, I assume. There I was, about waste deep in all that…well, it wasn’t snow. I heard my fried screaming (and slowly fading out) “Don fell in! Don fell in! Don fell in!”. It seemed to take forever for help to arrive. Apparently, all the adults ran down the steep hill to the lake, assuming I was in the water. I’m still not sure which was worse, waiting for the rescue or later standing in the driveway, buck naked, being hosed down on a cold & windy winter day.

Thanks DA! With the senior leadership for the Huskies that wasn't how i expected the game to go.

Hey, you started the Polar Plunge trend - sounds brutal all the way around. No wonder you are re-traumatized!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Sunday, March 12, 2023 - 04:23 pm:

I’m traumatized just reading about this.

I don’t think I’ll be eating chocolate pudding for a while.
