Deb and Ron Simons recently headed to Grand Marais, MI to do a bit of exploring. They’re taking us to the Log Slide there on a foggy day where you could barely see Lake Superior down below the 500 ft. drop. Deb captured some folks part way down the log slide in the second photo and said there was no way she’d have gone down the log slide, because the way back up would be too hard on her knee. Folks say it takes seconds to get down the log slide and an hour or more to climb back up. There are even warnings about it on the information signs.

Their next stop was at the Pickle Barrel House Museum, which Deb said was not open. Would have been fun to have photos from inside if it was. Interesting history of the little house on the sign in the fourth photo. I wonder if it was actually the first “tiny house” that so many folks are building these days?

We make a visit with Josh & Rebecca to the Log Slide and the Au Sable Lighthouse in today’s video. No fog that day!

We had a really nice time going to places
that we've wanted to but never found the
time. The weather just didn't cooperate. The
day before we went to Grand Marais was
beautiful. So we went to Whitefish Point.
But the bugs were out in full force that
day. After that we went to the Tahquamenon
Falls. We'd never been and they didn't
disappoint. They were the highlight of our
mini vacation, I think. Though I loved
everything we did. We went on the Sunset
Cruise at Pictured Rocks. Well, there was no
sun, lol and it rained the whole way back.
But a bad day exploring Michigan's U.P. is
better than a good day most everywhere else.
Just sorry I couldn't get better pictures on
those two days.
