We have a pictorial report from Debbie Jarve that the thimbleberries are ripening and ready for picking. I’ve read in several places that these little red orbs were selling for $35 a pound. So, I’m also guessing that a jar of Thimbleberry jam must be going for a fairly high price, too. But oh my goodness, it is such a treat!

All I know about the berries in the third photo is that they’re quite pretty, sitting among the greenery there. So it’s another mystery plant that I’m hoping someone in the viewing audience can help identify, both the red and the blue colored berries.

The bottom two photos are an update on the Swedetown Swans and Cygnets. I’ve had a report that there are only three of the Cygnets left right now, but just look at them and how they’re growing. They still have that fuzzy look, more-so than actual feathers, but you can see the black on their beaks beginning now, too. Here’s hoping these three can make it to adulthood. If you’ve never been to one of the KBIC Pow wow’s, I’m told you’re really missing something special. The participants dressed in their full regalia in the Grand Entrance is nothing short of spectacular. We get a fifteen minute look at the festivities with Douglas Feltman in today’s video spot.

I love those thimbleberry pictures. We've
picked about 10 pounds of them this year. So
we'll have Christmas presents for everybody.
Can't afford to buy the stuff at least $10
for a half point jar. Somebody told me $20.
Umm, no.

The swans are so beautiful. Great pictures.

The Pow Wow vid is so amazing. They are so
beautiful to attend. All the dancers, vendors,
etc...a Pow Wow Rocks! And the bear is back. I
can't imagine wearing that hide on a hot, humid
day....but he's been dancing in Baraga for years!
A Pow Wow is a must see. Doug did amazing....

I don't know what those berries are, but I've
heard do NOT eat them.

and Red Gold is what the Monks at the Jampot call
thimbleberries. I had a friend, who has crossed
over, who used to pick berries for them yearly. He
made a decent living doing so!
