We’re used to seeing beautiful Keweenaw night sky photos from Isaac Denier by now, but he’s actually outdone himself with today’s selection. This past Saturday evening he started out at McLain State Park for the sunset, then headed to Eagle Harbor to capture the Northern Lights with the Marina on the right and the buoy light on the left. After that photo he headed up to the top of Brockway Mountain for a shot of the Milky Way. Isaac finished the night shots with a crescent moon over Bete Grise. Talk about a night of adventure in the skies above the Keweenaw, he said the night was awesome!

These photos are a perfect lead-in for the Visit Keweenaw video announcement that the International Dark-Sky Association has named the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge as its most recent addition the the Dark Sky Park family. The Lodge will be the headquarters where visitors can view the beauty of the night sky without interference from city lights.

myself very soon!

When are you heading UP, Chuck?

I haven't seen the Northern Lights since 1973.
I hope I can again soon.

Can't wait to see sunsets like that first pic!!

Hi D.A.,
7/10, camping our way U.P. , we'll be in the
Keweenaw about 7/24 to the end of September, God
willing with no issues.
Looking forward to crossing the Mighty Mac and
that first breath of U.P. air!! lol Are you
traveling this up this year?

Wondering with these gas prices, how the tourism
will be for the Keweenaw & all of the U.P.
businesses and their support & survival?

I've got one of the Milky Way over Nahma's burn
tower...that's gone now...fell down...but I have
that pic!

These are so stunning.

I agree, Deb and Donna. Donna, can you post to share that pic?

U.C.,
Planning to head out to somewhere mid-July but haven't decided which direction. My daily driving ability varies wildly (2 to 6 hours) so making reservations is nearly impossible. A check of the U.P. State Park reservation system gives me a favorable impression that there are several last minute availabilities likely, although the weekends are pretty much fully booked in most places. For weekends I'll probably be doing "dispersed" or "rustic" camping in National or State Forests or County Parks (or a Walmart, LOL).

Are you staying near Gay again? At 2 months you must have found a good place. I plan to be in the U.P. for a good deal of the time while hoping to hit some remote areas I've never seen (e.g.Crisp Point Lighthouse, etc.)
