The crabapple trees in front of Canal View over in Hancock were all in bloom when Judy Byykkonen was there recently. The deep pink color of the blossoms is absolutely my favorite, but I also love the way Judy captured the Stars and Stripes waving in the wind above the blossoms in the last photo. When you drive up and see the trees loaded with color like that, you can’t help but stare at the beauty for a while. It’s a good thing folks like Judy stop to snap photos like these, because the actual blossoms are short-lived on the trees and photos are the next best thing to actually seeing the beautiful blooms in person. Today we aren’t stopping to smell the roses, we’re stopping to appreciate the crabapple blossoms.

There’s always something new to learn with Brian Whitens and Kristin Ojaniemi from 906 Outdoors. Check out this episode of Discovering about Wild Edibles, along with coverage of the Powder Puff Fishing tournament in Ontonagon.

These pictures are so lovely. It's too bad
that crabapple trees don't bloom for a
longer time because they're so beautiful.
