Deb Simons says she loves watching the birds that visit her backyard feeders and from today’s captures, she sure gets a nice variety of them passing through. Deb’s first two shots are thought to be a Summer Tanager, which is further north of it’s normal region, so is a rare sighting. So neat to see birds that we don’t normally get to in our area.

The next two pictures are a Rose-breasted Grosbeak that had actually hit their kitchen window and was stunned. It was a colder day, so they carefully placed it in the small box and brought it inside to keep it warm. Then when it started moving around more, they brought it back outside. It regained it’s strength, posed for a final photo and then took off. I guess Deb and Ron are bird whisperers, too!

A Baltimore Oriole is the last bird in today’s shots. They’re so pretty with the bright orange coloring like that and so distinct, you can’t mistake them for anything else. What a neat assortment of feathered friends!

We get to view a Juvenile Summer Tanager in today’s video. Another distinctly colored bird to add to the list!

Thanks for showing off our birds, Mary. It's
been so much fun watching them. However, we
have bears that also like the food. The
first time they were here they dumped our
garbage can full of food all over and took
two bags of food with them. They dropped one
bag further back in our yard and another bag
in the neighbor's yard. Since then we've
been careful to bring the feeders inside.
They've been caught on camera in our
neighbor's yard twice since then and last
night we forgot to bring the feeders in. A
neighbor up the hill brought our feeder back
all chewed up and empty, lol. We figured
there are two families of them in our
township. Our bears are a mom and 2 cubs.
They're cute as the dickens on camera. But
I wouldn't wanna run into them.

I loved the video of the Summer Tanager.
Ours hasn't come back in a while. We had
joked that he was a typical male who
wouldn't stop and ask for directions. It was
a pleasure to have him here for the week he
was around.

Very impressive Deb! With so many colorful visitors it's no wonder why you enjoy watching the birds. You did a great job caring for the Grosbeak until it recovered too. Just watch out for the bears!
