This hungry group of bears were spotted in an undisclosed Copper Country location, in the early morning. Mom gets a hold of the bird feeder in the tree, which actually doesn’t have much seed in it at the end of the day, so it gets left out usually, but not any more. Kathy Maki said she won’t be leaving the feeder out there anymore and was happy that the bears didn’t destroy it. She also said it was interesting that Mom grabbed the bird feeder and ate the sunflower seeds in it, leaving the “kids” on their own. They look so neat standing up like they are in the last two photos, almost like they’re human. Maybe he’s standing there giving the other bear in the tree, instructions on how to grab the branch and reach the feeder. It’s definitely that time of year when the bird feeders have to be taken in at night and put back out in the morning. Once there are berries and such for the bears to eat, they won’t be after the bird feed so much anymore.

Today is Memorial Day, the day we honor those that have given their lives in the service of their country. The video talks about World War I on through and shows the memorials in Washington, D.C for each war and one I wasn’t aware of that honors those who lost their lives in the 911 attack on the Pentagon. It is located southwest of the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia.

Cool pictures. We got "robbed" by the little
monsters this week also. They got hold of
our garbage can that was on our deck. They
dumped out the sunflower seeds and grabbed
the bags of thistle and just regular bird
food. They drank the oriole juice. They
bent our shepherd's hook, and we have a very
heavy one. The next morning our neighbors
bag of seeds was found in somebody else's
yard, along with the scoop. They've been
seen here on other days too, the last time
being 5 a.m. Needless to say, we've put the
feeders away at night now.

Thanking those who gave their lives so the
rest of us could live free.

I tend to wonder if the bear population may be on
the rise in the U.P. I live just outside of
downtown Calumet and this is the first summer that
I've spotted a bear 'deposit' in my yard. Just
wondering.

Yooperdfs, I live in the township that these
bears were spotted. I think that there may
be 2 separate families of bears because
we've had a mom and 2 cubs patrolling our
yards and stealing our bird food. They've
been caught on video and they've left our
bags in other yards. Needless to say, it
only took one time for them to rob us and we
now put the bird feeders away at night. So
it's very interesting.
