Debbie Jarve was out and about snapping some well known scenes from Eagle Harbor to Houghton on her journey. We start with a shot of the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. The snow and ice is definitely receding. I think Spring is on its way now.

Debbie’s second shot is the Eagle River Falls and just for the record, we’ve had some rain and warmer temps the past few days, including right around 60° yesterday...so the falls are running faster and the snow has melted more than this photo. YAY!

The next three photos are from the deer herd that winters over in the Eagle River area. Check out that shot Debbie got of the deer eye. How is that for close up and personal!

The Lift Bridge was captured in the dark skies of early morning as Debbie was on her way to work and couldn’t resist a stop to snap the Bridge and reflection. A sight like this is her reward for having to be at work before the sun is even peeking over the horizon. Here’s a fun video from the Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsmen’s Club, but their awareness message that accompanied the video, is what’s important. Please read the following and be on the alert:
“As the snow finally starts to melt here in the Keweenaw it is time to slow down and watch out for deer. As the deer start to spread out from their wintering areas, the first areas of browse exposed are typically near or around our road ways. Remember, if you see one deer, look for two, if you see two, look for three. Of course if your one of our feeders, stop counting, be patient, and maybe take a video.
Again, slow down and stay alert. These deer have survived a long winter and it would be unfortunate for them or you to be injured/killed this close to the end of the winter season.”

As I watched the video all I could think of was a possible caption if it were a Far Side cartoon by Gary Larson....

"And the deer accepted their long awaited walk of shame as they walked home after the all winter long party bash at Bobs."

Great pictures. We were there visiting the
deer last week. So cool.

Love the video. Always enjoy seeing/watching deer. I
have a summer place just outside of Calumet and get
lucky from time to time when I spot deer in and
around my yard. Hope to be HOME in about 3-4 weeks.
Can hardly wait.

Fantastic. And that video is positively EPIC.
Unreal!

A thing that REALLY helps when you see deer near/on
the road....blare your horn. Scares them off and
works every single time!

Nice! Did anyone else notice that deer taking cuts
at 1.15 min.? "Ya got's ta wait in line like
everybody else, pal."

It is not possible to live fully if one is afraid to die.

That first picture, of the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse,
is just too beautiful for words. Thank you, Debbie
Jarve and the wonderful folks at Pasty Cam for
sharing it with us.
