Beth Jukuri reports that the Sturgeon River near her home in Chassell is going back into her banks after flooding the roads nearby and that nature is displaying some icy beauty because of the receding waters. Someone commented that the ice left clinging to the trees looks like glass lamp shades with crystal globes. It absolutely does! Beth explains that when the water level falls back, the ice shades get left frozen to the trees and that as she walked along, she could hear loud snapping noises when the ice was breaking around them.

The frozen puddle photo is a dandy, also, with the muddy, dirt road water encapsulated under the ice. Nature is truly amazing if we only take the time to notice and enjoy these little events. Thankfully, folks like Beth capture it for us all to enjoy.

Another sign that spring can’t be too far off for us folks UP North, Sand Hill Cranes have returned to the area, although with the April snows we’ve been experiencing almost daily, I bet they’re thinking they should have stayed south a few more weeks. Beth caught them on video for us, too.

Here's a clickable version of your link that starts at 15:05:
Sandhill Cranes

I could listen all day.
There's are big fields somewhere along M-38 towards Ontonagon that regularly hosts them when the season is right. They are usually a fair distance from the road, just along the tree line.
