Kathy Erkkila Ptaszek had been cooped up in the house for the two days of storming, so when she saw blue sky and sunshine, she hit the road to the Keweenaw and found open water and plenty of blue sky. You can see from her photos that the roads were narrow and the snowbanks were impressive. What a beautiful day for a drive.

We can only hope that Spring is going to arrive here in the Copper Country soon and all those snowbanks will be melting away. Of course at the writing of these notes, the forecast for today and tomorrow was for more rain, snow and wind for us...I’m hoping for less than what the predictions are saying. Winter is overstaying its welcome.

E. Neil Harri also took a drive a couple days later and spotted this blowhole along Lake Superior’s North Shore. The wind was blowing the trees and stirring up the Big Lake, sending wave after wave through that hole in the ice. Pretty cool... literally!

Woo hoo, bare pavement! May the sunshine be yours.

This one should be it. We always get our St.
Patty's storm. (last week) and March comes in like
a Lion and goes out like a Lamb. That didn't
happen. So it's gonna leave a mark. AND...there's
an old Finnish saying (I don't know it in
Finn)..."The new snow is the death of the old
snow". We HAVE to get new stuff to make the old,
insulated stuff melt. It's happening. A couple more
days and we'll be good to go. Maybe one or two
little dumps...no biggy...we know how to do this!

Beautiful pictures. And especially now that
the lake is blue. Loved them.

The video was cool also.

M Go Blue?

Oh wait, that's something else, not the sky & water.
