Brenda Leigh has been living in the Brimley area for 11 years now and she said the storm this past weekend is the biggest she’s seen since moving there. They’ve had lots of storms, winds and heavy snowfall, but nothing like this storm. She said when she opened up their basement door about a foot of snow fell in. They knew they were going to get a storm, but when she woke up at 3:00 in the morning, she couldn’t see out of the windows. You can see from her photos that the drifts were huge, the one in front of the house, looks like it reaches the second story level. Brenda said they worked all day Saturday and half of Sunday to clear things up and it was exhausting. So what did she reward herself with after all that shoveling? She went on a nice snowshoe hike! Now that’s a true winter/snow lover.

Whenever winter is getting you down, take a look at this video from 9252Life Off Grid and what they go through in the winter to live off grid in a small cabin, in the remote woods of the Upper Peninsula. They have a five mile drive to the main road from their cabin in the woods. Clearing the road is up to them and it’s not just snow they have to move out of the way.

Now that's a storm. Love her pictures. Our
first year here and, even though I lived
here well into my 20's, you forget just how
much it snows here. I've enjoyed getting out
there and clearing out the snow. But I'm
over it now, lol. Spring can come any time.

The last picture gives new meaning to the term "snow shovel".

Makes me SO grateful for the 1/2 inch we received here this week.

There was a time in my life when I absolutely would have really envied the 9252 family...50 years ago.

Really nice pics and video, even if they are most
likely tired of the white stuff. I'd like to be 4
wheelin thru it in my warm truck with a large hot
cup of coffee!! lol As for the video... at this
stage of the game.... all I could think about was...
what if you have a medical emergency!! Be careful
9252 family, be safe!!

clickable (at least for me). Help! Wanna see it!

Wow....wild winters are back! When we were kids,
we lived in my Grandparent's old restaurant that
Gramps remodeled for us. Warner's Drive In
Restaurant. It was a drive in with the waitresses
running the hops out..etc....anyway, they left the
frame above the roof, then when we got too big,
they built another bedroom upstairs....we'd crawl
out the window, run around on the frame, to the
kitchen, where the snow drifted up to the roof.
We'd slide down, run back in the house and back
upstairs, to get out the window and do it all over
again. lol...Oh the fun we had. Mom would say
"What are you kids doing"...the usual
answer.."Nothing"....and off we'd go. What great
memories!
And that video. HOLY WHA. Not for me anymore.
Years ago..oh yeah....now? Not a chance.
