The Bishop Baraga Shrine stands high above the Red Rocks, between L’Anse and Baraga. In the summer months the trees hide him a bit more, but you can usually see his head peeking out above the tops of the trees. This time of year, though, the shrine stands out much more. In Nancy Haun’s first photo, you can even see the buildings on the shrine campus. The sun glinting off the statue draws your attention to it, too. Nancy is the President of the Bishop Baraga Foundation and takes care of the Shrine and the grounds. She reminds us all that the Shrine is open year round for viewing and says she will be around the grounds this coming season, so stop in to see all the improvements that have been made and say hello.

Very cool pictures of the statue. We were
going to stop there on our way home from
Green Bay last November but we could barely
see with the snow coming down. We did see a
lot of freighters that day, though.

Sometimes pictures of the Shrine don't do it justice because you don't get the perspective of how large it is. The first picture really shows how tall Bishop Baraga stands in comparison to the cliffs.
