The theme for the 2022 Michigan Technological University’s 100th anniversary of Winter Carnival is: “Come One, Come All, To Our 100th Carnival”. Thanks to the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, we get a look at a few of the winners from several different divisions in the Month-Long statue building competition.

For a complete list of the winners of all the divisions in both the Month-Long and the All-Nighter Statues, click here: MTU Winter Carnival

The Greek organization, Phi Kappa Tau, over in Hancock, extended their winning streak to four years in a row for the Month-Long competition. Their statue is titled, “100 Years They Come and Go, But Still We Say LET IT SNOW!” Debbie Jarve shares a video with some of the detail of their statue. Take note how the letters for their entry are made to look like they were cut out of copper. Nice touch!

I've been waiting for you to post the winners Mary! As usual, these are so impressive. Best thing to being able to see them in person. Congratulations to the winners and everyone who worked so hard on their entries!

Unreal. These are so beautiful...thanks for the tour.

These statues are exquisite. The thought and work put into them amazes me. I can't draw stick people as my family can attest to. I have no idea how they have so much talent. I mean, to even be able to come up with the idea is amazing. Hats off to these artists.

And that video was so good, pointing out everything to us. And you could hear the snow crunching beneath their feet so you
know it's extremely cold out there. I could also hear birds. I thought there was one in my house and so did the cats. Very cool. Thanks so much for taking us along.
