Autumn 2021, may go down in the books as the longest Fall season ever. At least that’s how it seemed around the area here. You could see vibrant colors from mid-September, all the way to mid-October and a bit beyond, depending where you were. There are still a few spots that have some color to enjoy.

Fred Koski owner and chief bottle washer at Fred Koski Photography, gives us a sampling of some of the fall colors he captured. He didn’t give a location, but I’m guessing these were taken in the L’Anse/Three Lakes area. His two river photos, make me think of a lazy river, as there doesn’t seem to be a ripple in the water, so the reflections come through clear, almost like looking in a mirror.

In his last two photos, we get a glimpse of some roadside pumpkins. This one has me wondering if Fred set the scene with the pumpkins and his car, or if he just happened upon these pumpkins decorating the side of the road and stopped to snap a shot of them.

And check out that last photo. That’s actually a mushroom. I tried to find some info on what type of mushroom this might be, but came up empty handed. If there are any mushroom experts in the viewing audience, let us know what type of fungi this one is. It’s quite interesting.

We get a bit of a science lesson today from 906 Outdoors on why trees change colors, with Ann Hruska, Conservation Specialist. Sit back and get comfortable, it’s the full episode of 906 Outdoors, almost 23 minutes, but after watching, you’ll know everything about why and how the colors of fall happen.

How incredibly gorgeous. That shroom looks like a
Viking Shield. Way cool....

And I LOVE 906 Outdoors...we need hoodies with all
the stuff at the beginning of the show...

9 Million acres of shoreline,
1700 miles of continuous shoreline,
4300 lakes,
1200 streams,
300 waterfalls,
15 counties,
2 time zones,
And 1 area code 906,
The Upper Peninsula

I want that hoodie!

A mushroom loving friend made a tentative ID for the
mushroom in your post. Could not make a more
positive one because he could not see the underside
of cap or stem. Stangulated grisette "Amanita
cecilae. I tried to attach picture but had not luck.

Those two top pics with the stream, just beg to be

could talk Marty into trying to cross it that way
while I film him!!! lol
