Autumn here in the Keweenaw produces beauty all around us and Melanie Hakala Rossi gives a couple examples of Fungi in the Fall that we may overlook, since the leaves above us take over our senses normally. My favorite is the red one in the first photo. I have no clue what type of mushroom it is, all I know is it’s a pretty one!

Then Melanie takes us UP on Mount Houghton for a colorful view of the landscape down below, including a low cloud/hazy look at Bete Grise. Outstanding comes to mind for that shot. Not that the others aren’t beauties, also, just that this one is so different with the clouds, sky and fall colors.

We get an almost live view from Melanie, too, with her short span of the view to accompany her photos.

Beauty surrounds us. You're so right, Mary,
about the trees taking over our senses. I
realized that on our Freda run through the
covered road. I looked down to make sure I
wasn't going to trip, and there were some
lovely ferns. They were still green And
totally stood out. It helps that ferns are
one of my very favorite plants.

Thanks for taking us along, Melanie!

I've been AWOL for a week. As some of you know I'm on my "virgin voyage" in my "new" travel trailer. I spent the first 5 nights in the Houghton city lot and refreshed most all of those old memories wandering the Keweenaw. Since having to skip the year of Covid and old age, those memories seem to be fading.

I spent last night all alone at Big Eric's Bridge and last night on the shore of Lake Michigan in Manistique, a beautiful city.

As soon as I get more time with better internet I hope to contribute some nice stuff. We're mostly past peak color but I find trying capture that transition to colder more desolate times but along side some of the strong Autumn "hangers on" to be interesting.

Some of you may have noticed the Isle Royale Queen moored in Houghton. I tried some night shots along with fill flash.

Great pics & video!! Like that third shot, I've
stood in that exact spot a few times, what a great
place to just sit and relax and sometimes get a sun
tan! lol
