When you live outside the “city limits”, the scenery outside your kitchen window is always something new and interesting. Just ask Nancy Haun who lives in the Skanee area outside of L’Anse, on the Haunderosa (such a clever name for their home!). She gets to see these four legged visitors almost daily and you never know what they’ll be up to. Quite an array of sparring bucks in her photos today...must be amazing to watch them in action right there in her backyard.

The last photo is what she saw when they drove into their driveway after church. One of the sets of twins that frequent their yard, were relaxing and chewing right in front of their porch, with other deer scattered all over the yard. Nancy points out that the twin on the right has lost most of his spots.

We have a different set of youngsters just relaxing and preening themselves in today’s video from Debbie Jarve Photography. Debbie captured the Swedetown Swans cleaning themselves, such a fun thing to watch them like this.

Oh my. These are some of the cutest photos. I
always love deer pictures. I never get tired
of them. How lucky to get to watch them like
that. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Nice set! I wish I had a neck like that, so I could
scratch that one spot on my back that I can never
reach.

Simply amazing!

I wonder if the Twins are calmly awaiting the results of the combat or are contemplating the start of next year's estrus.

D. A. (Midwested),
Have you headed to the UP yet?

Maybe the twins are thinking: "don't hurt my daddy!!!"

By D. A. (Midwested) on Sunday, October 3, 2021 - 11:42 pm:

Not quite yet jbuck. It seems I am having difficulty accepting the fact that my planning and preparation thus far is good enough. I keep adding one more thing to do. And then there is the concern of how many nights it will take me to get there. It will probably take at least 2 over-nights to traverse the 400 miles. Present plan is to leave here this Wednesday.

It appears though the weather has been cooperating with days still quite warm and nights still mild. Some campgrounds close mid-October while the State Parks are open till Nov. 1st (except McClain which is closing early for some reason). The Houghton City park has openings after the 10th but I will probably end up in Gay. Plan to head home when freezing temps chase me out.
