Any day is a good day, when spent on the shores of Lake Superior. Today we join two photographers there for different views of the Upper Entry Lighthouse that welcomes boaters off Lake Superior all summer long. Judy Byykkonen snapped the first three photos from the McLain State Park shoreline. I love how the sun rays are coming through the clouds in the first shot, lighting the water and the breakwall there. Then she captured a sailboat heading in and the driftwood along the shore, adding another dimension to the Lighthouse scene.

The fourth photo was taken by Debbie Jarve from Debbie Jarve Photography. She captured a beautiful evening shot from the Breakwaters, complete with the setting sun. It doesn’t get much better than this!

Today’s video is something you don’t see every day. TV6 and Fox UP shared a clip of an Eagle swimming in Lake Superior at the Calumet Waterworks park. Looks like this regal Eagle needed to cool off in Superior, too!

I gave it a 9.9. I deducted a point for the
dismount...poorly pointed toes.

Never have seen anything like this before. I was
taught that all animals know how to swim(except
our cocker spaniel). Amazing sight to behold!!

Hi
I don't have any hard data, but I don't think
the eagle went swimming voluntarily. My guess
is that it struck at a fish but went too deep.
Then it's only option was to get ashore using
its wings.

I seem to remember a previous PastyCam post
where a hawk got in similar difficulty but
couldn't get out of the water. The PastyCammer
fished it out--I forget if he offered it the
boathook to perch on or if he used a net--then
let it rest and dry its wings. It then took
off.
