As promised, today we have Geology Lesson #2 from Capt. Paul and Dr. Nat (also known as Paul and Nathalie Brandes). We head to Horseshoe Harbor past Copper Harbor, here in the Keweenaw to take a look at Stromatolites and their importance to the earth’s history. I found it fascinating that they were once organisms that actually got trapped as sediment and kept growing upwards, forming those layers you see. Who would have thought? I’ve seen these before, but just thought they were layers of the rock, having no clue how it was formed or why.

For the full story, listen to Dr. Nat (Nathalie) explain the formation of these Stromatolites and why they are important in our earth’s history. Interesting for sure. I don’t know about you, but I’m enjoying our Geology lessons so far. Stay tuned for more

And the hits just keep coming! Very nice pix and another well narrated video. My only suggestion would be that you get a mic-windscreen to quell wind interference. Other than that, I was impressed. Dr. Nat...you're a natural, you should have your own show, like maybe; "The Rockodile Hunter"???

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 - 07:37 pm:

Yeah unfortunately, we didn't realise the wind was going to be that much of an issue. We just got a new mic in the mail today that should hopefully reduce wind interference in future videos.

Glad everyone is liking the photos/videos. It's something we've talked about doing for quite some time.

These mini-lessons are fascinating! Thanks Dr. Nat! Looking forward to the next installment.

I really enjoyed the videos and pictures. I think it would be worth it to re-edit the "windy" ones with a new voice over. Thanks so much.

Am I too premature to ask about the "undisclosed location" in a future video? Just a bit of a tease maybe.

Hint: From any of Dr. Nat’s videos here, including the one
above, choose the YouTube option, and from there you can
subscribe to Dr. Nat’s entire collection of videos. There are
“lotsa many” of ‘em. Kinda “Dr. Nat’s own show”, in many
episodes!

Yes, we could go to YouTube but Mary adds so much with additional pictures and commentary that it's more fun to enjoy them on Pasty Cam!

Mary says: Awe...that's so nice of you to say, Jbuck! Thank you!

Mary...I agree with Jbuck: you're a good
commentator and story teller, ever think about
writing a book?

Certainly true that, for the ones that are posted here.
However my earlier message was in response to Alex's (emphasis added):

To point out that Dr. Nat has effectively done that with the vast collection of videos she's posted on YouTube.

If you haven't checked as I suggested above, you have no idea of the number of videos that Dr. Nat has in her vast collection! —If you care to see them.

(No one said we can't also enjoy the "bonus content" posted here!)
