I think it’s safe to say that Gladys Collins has a green thumb when it comes to growing flowers in her Ishpeming yard. Those Poppies are bursting with color and then when you move in close for a look, it really pops. Gorgeous! The violet colored Iris is something else, too and check out all the buds in the background waiting to join this one.

Gladys’ last photo, though is one of my favorites, right up there with lilacs, Pansies of any color always grab my attention, but these deep purple ones are just too beautiful for words! Don’t they look like velvet?

National Geographic’s video here today, is a time-lapse of various flowers unfurling and blooming right before your eyes. What a neat way to see how it all takes place!

Very nice...isn't nature grand?

When I saw the colors in first picture of poppies from a distance, my mind went immediately to Devils Paintbrush/Orange Hawkweed which I first saw growing wild in Copper Harbor. The bold and vivid red/orange were exceptional. I'm not aware if it is considered an invasive species in Michigan but it is in parts of Canada and Australia.

That's one heck of a shot, D.A., there may be hope for you yet.
