When Judy Byykkonen takes her “girls” out for a walk, she likes to vary their stomping grounds, but likes to keep to the woods and trails, so the dogs can run free. Last week she chose to hit the trails in Lake Linden, where you can find what the locals call, “The Tunnel of Love”. It is thought that this was built by C&H and the trail passed under the C&H Traprock Valley railroad, so that the Houghton Country Traction Company street cars could travel between Calumet and Lake Linden. What beautiful scenery there must have been along that ride back in the day.

Judy’s third photo shows the flood damage to the snowmobile/ATV trail from the 2018 Father’s Day Flood that damaged so much in the area. The trail has still not been repaired, two years later, due to a lack of funds to do so. With no ATV traffic this time of year, it makes for a good place for Judy and the girls to stretch their legs.
P.S. Judy says, so far so good, no ticks on the dogs or her.
