The Buffalo Reef clean up at Big Traverse (a.k.a. Grand Traverse Harbor) goes on through the winter. E. Neil Harri shares some photos of the most recent clean up done over the last couple months. You can see in Neil’s first couple photos that they removed the sand that had again started filling up the channel and it looks like they removed a good amount from the shoreline right next to the channel walls, too. Hopefully that will keep the stamp sand from migrating over the channel walls and protect the reef at the same time.

Neil’s last three shots are over near to Gay, with the last two looking at the town itself. It’s certainly not a very big community, but they have a few things going for them there during the year, to draw in crowds. Fourth of July is probably their biggest event, with the annual Gay parade and the festivities the Fire Department put on for the townspeople and visitors. It’s a great little community to reside in.

The folks over at the Upper Peninsula of Michigan – Fun In The UP Facebook page shared today’s video with us. Giving us a ‘bird’s eye” view of the Keweenaw’s spine, including The Cliffs, Delaware, Mount Bohemia, Bete Grise, and Mt Houghton.

That 4th of July parade in Gay, is the BEST parade
to hit...it's a parody on parades....and when they
first started it, it was so small, they went around
the block twice! lol....it's truly the BEST parade
you can see!

Fantastic pic's & video today!! Really missing the Keweenaw!!! And the pic's and video show Gay & Bete Gris & Lac La Belle... Do you know what lies between Gay & LLB???? lol LITTLE BETSY!!

Really missing it right now, need to get my surgery over with & rehab and get in the YOOP!! Or as Grandpa Norm (dad) use to say.... " Charlie... time to head North and blow the stink off!!" (aka. leave the big city and get in the U.P.!! lol) For me... It has to be the Finest Place on Earth!!

If for some reason I don't make it off the table next month, would one of you see to it that my ashes make it to Superior in front of Bare Bluff and not to our curb on Wednesday evening like Aunt Vic say's that's where I'll be??? lol :=)) Yeah... I have a twisted sense of humor I know! :)
