We’re joining Melanie Hakala Rossi and friends for their weekly snowshoe adventure. This past weekend they were in the vicinity of the Hungarian Falls and they were challenged more than usual due to the amount of snow we received, totaling more than 16 inches. It was fluffy, powder like snow, so the solid base was deep below the surface, making them work harder to get where they were going. Check out the four-legged adventurer of the group, you can barely see him as the trail is so deep along the way.

Today’s video highlights many familiar sights from the U.P. and talks about the beauty, hospitality and unpredictability of the weather found here in the North Country.

Beautiful pic's and a really neat video! I remember doing some of those things in the late seventies (not surfing lol), but now I'd do those trails in a "side by side" or the comfort of a 4WD!
The video speaks the truth, some people get it and some people don't and that's ok too, it's what makes the U.P. special for those that do!!

Amen UC!

As the saying goes: "20 below sorts out the riffraff!"

If the weather wasn't extreme sometimes the UP would be overpopulated and ruined. When people say to me: "how could you live up there with all the snow and cold?" I just smile inwardly and know the UP was spared again.
