When the fall colors are at their peak here in the Keweenaw, you have to get out and see them, rain or shine. That’s just what Marcy Bessolo Hermanson did last week one rainy day. She headed up Brockway Mountain, snapping a couple photos along the way. Once she reached the top, though, the fog was hiding the view, but the trip up and back down provided plenty of color, along with the drive to Copper Harbor to begin with. It always surprises me, how beautiful the colors are, even when the sun isn’t shining brightly.

Since Marcy couldn’t see much on top Brockway, we have a video from Jmart of the U.P., actually shot about the end of the color season that year.

So loving all the fall colors we're being
shown. That video is spectacular. The colors
are outstanding. Thanks for finding that.

Gorgeous Brockway video.

Why can't someone invent an accurate method to predict peak color week? I know the weather is unpredictable, that's not what I'm referring to. Seems like it should be possible to keep track of weekly temperatures, humidity, rainfall, etc. and get a little better at predicting for an area. Last year I was on Brockway the second week in October and the colors weren't close to peaking but there was a snow blizzard...of course.

I guess I'm just still upset that I didn't even make it UP this year.
