It’s the time of year in a farmer’s life here UP North, when they get ready to harvest the crops. Kathy Archambeau snapped a photo of a local farmer’s oat field recently, with the oats looking just about ready for combining. There’s something beautiful about a field with the crops grown and ready to produce for the farm, either as feed for the animals or a cash crop. The color of the field is what tells the farmer that it’s just about ready now.

Today’s third photo are the badges that three of our local Tamarack City Firefighters, Kyle Saatio, Todd Shank and Steve Westphal wore this past weekend as they traveled to Green Bay to take part in the 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb, honoring the firefighters who lost their lives that day climbing the stairs of the World Trade Centers to try to help rescue people. I’m proud of our local volunteer firemen for taking part in remembering and honoring the fallen.

The three pictured are:
Sergio G. Villanueva – Firefighter Ladder 132
Andrew C. Brunn – Firefighter Ladder 5
Shawn Edward Powell – Firefighter Ladder 207.
Never Forget!

The video here today, is from 2016, explaining the Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field, so be sure to watch to learn the rest of the story on the climb and what they do to honor these fallen heroes.

That day is etched in the engrams of my mind until the day I die, it can not and will not ever be forgotten.

I called Bill at work, as the second plane went into the World Trade Center. I was crying. When Bill got home from work, it was announced that all planes were grounded. We lived not to far from Oakland County Airport. We went and stood outside and looked at the sky. It was so eerier how quiet it was. Then we stood there and said a prayer for all the people, who were lost, as well as their families.
Never Forget

How could we ever forget? Like the holocaust,
which was so bad, this is something that will
be remembered until the day we die. So very
sad.
