Today’s study in Sunflowers comes to us from Sharon Bodenus over at Upper Peninsula Photography. Her first photo shows the beauty of these flowers in bloom and her second shot shows what they look like just before they bloom. Both beautiful in different ways. Did you know that young sunflowers, before they bloom, turn their heads to the sun? That’s called heliotropism. Once they bloom and mature, though, the flowers always look to the east. Fascinating.

Hall’s Farms in Rock, MI has a plethora of sunflowers, fields of them. Today’s video takes us there for a visit a year ago. What a sight to see, sunflowers too numerous to count!

I heard that they had to stop making those round bales of hay, because the cows complained that they weren't getting a good square meal anymore.

The round bales aren't compatible with the food pyramid either.

I lived in North Dakota for a while and I swear
all I ever saw were sunflowers. I started
disliking them. I love them now. They're so
bright and pretty.
