It was a hot day on Monday here in the Keweenaw, and we knew something was brewing up above. Our neighbor Sue Scanlan up the hill has a birds-eye view of Great Sand Bay and Cat Harbor, a tremendous vantage point for seeing the storm roll in. What followed was a real gully-washer, as my uncle used to say. Violent winds, and some lightning that caused damage in Copper Harbor.

After the storm passed by, the sky took on an eerie glow out over the Lake, which I attempted to capture in the second photo above. Pretty peaceful. The sunset view we see outside our bedroom window every night here in the western suburbs of Eagle River.

Rick Larson caught the same kind of U.P. weather action on today's video. "I bet it went from 90 degrees to 70, in just a couple of minutes".

Western Washington, we RARELY get a good
thunderstorm. Maybe, once a year and even then,
it might just be a clap or two and that's it!
