The 4th of July wouldn’t be complete in Lake Linden and Dollar Bay, without a parade. Lake Linden starts their festivities off first thing in the morning with the parade. Gail Ongie was there, where she captured this shot of the Calumet Floral and Gifts float entry, covered with beautiful flowers and what looks like little fairies walking behind, carrying baskets. I’m not sure what’s in those baskets, maybe flower petals or treats for the parade goers.

Gail also made her way to the Dollar Bay parade, which takes place in the afternoon. She snapped the second photo of the RC Mechanical float entry. That’s quite an impressive flag, with an Eagle atop, the six military branch insignias along the bottom and American Pride on their sign. Patriotic, indeed!

We’re stepping back in time for our video treat today, published by Beth Davis back in 2016. It’s the parade going through Hubbell and then Dollar Bay. I don’t know what year it is, but if you’re an old car buff, you can probably tell from the cars parked along the parade route. If you figure it out, please share it with the rest of us. P.S. There’s no sound on this video.

The cars looked to be from the early to mid '60s. As well as some of the attire.

WOW! Old parade. NO candy being thrown, cops
walking the route...pushing folks back....the
clothing on the majorettes, etc...and WHERE did
they find a Bagpipe band? Holy wha!

I agree, john mich (Johnofmi), I saw a car that looks like my first car (handed down from my parents)...a 1965 Chevy Impala, white with red interior, 283 short block v8...I loved that car.

Early in the video looks like a 1967 Ford Galaxie in a bronze color. I believe that color was unique to that model year.
