Over the weekend, Chad Johnson did some kayaking along the Traprock River in Lake Linden. He found something different about the water, though and discovered it to be pollen floating on top the water. It looks like the cotton type pollen from cottonwood trees to me and quite a bit of it at that. Further along the waterway there, he found something a bit more typical for the river water... lily pads. These are pretty neat water plants and one that frogs and small turtles always seem to be around.

Chad also shares a short video while slowly floating along. Listen closely and you’ll hear the call of the birds that were watching him paddle by. What a gloriously peaceful way to spend the day!

Hi
We had cottonwood trees in our yard, and every
summer they dropped two messes. First were
what we called "stickies": very adhesive little
things, that you'd better get off your car's
paint and windshield sooner rather than later.
Then there were the white fluffy items we
called fuzzies; I think they'd be considered
seeds rather than pollen, though I don't really
know.

The water lilies in he second photo are nice.
