Danielle Adams has been a “boatnerd” for many years and said when she lived in Hancock, she was always so excited to see the “salt boat” arrive in the fall, as it would be the only opportunity to see the big boats around there. Now that she lives in Marquette she’s always down at the Harbor and said that the guards even know her by name. Now that’s real dedication. I really like these shots with the Saginaw’s boom out like this.

Our video is big boat related, even though you can’t see it passing by Whitefish Point, if you turn your volume up, you’ll hear it blast its foghorn as it passes by. You may have to click the "speaker" icon on the bottom of the video window to unmute the sound, also. Video courtesy of Frances Czapski from the Whitefish Point Facebook page.

Nice pix of the Marquette Harbor as always!!

Question... If you can't see the boat is it really there, or might it be a ghost ship we are hearing??? :-)

Nice! I have a relaxation CD that has similar sounds...ocean waves with occasional foghorn blowing in the distance.
Nice inquiry, UC...sounds like really good meds, to me.

We have a cabin on Lake Huron near Cheboygan, and
the shipping lanes are out in front between the
mainland and Bois Blanc island. Sometimes we can
hear passing ships signaling each other with their
foghorns.

Also, when I was a kid the Poe Reef lighthouse
(also out in front) had a loud and distinctive
foghorn that went "bee-OOP".
